Ohio State Buckeyes 2022-2023 ... The Drive For Duluth

Well, just for fun, I have hotel reservations in Duluth for the Frozen Four weekend. I do not have tickets for the games. Amsoil Arena seats I believe around 8,000, these games will not sell out, tickets WILL be available at the door.
Tickets are being sold not by Ticketmaster but through UMD's ticket office. My two seats for the whole series in reserved chairback senior rates was $56.00

Great atmosphere again tonight and of course the win. The president of Ohio State was in attendance and I had the pleasure of being introduced to her.
My evening will be complete with Mr.PGB's accurate and always insightful summary.

It seems completely possible to me that you will be right and I will be wrong. Even with my seats being general admission (and senior discount), my at the door cost for two seats for two sessions seems very likely to be at least $56.

I even called their ticket office this afternoon to double check that my order was correct. Here's what I cut from my confirmation email.

The Buckeyes scored the first two goals of the game and never looked back in this one, winning by a final score of 6-1. Makenna Webster got Ohio State on the board less than a minute into the game. Emma Maltais scored a short-handed goal a few minutes later to make it 2-0 and that would be all the Bucks would need in this one. Maija Almich would answer for the Tommies to cut the lead in half and the teams went to the first intermission with Ohio State leading 2-1. The Buckeyes would get goals from Paetyn Levis and Gabby Rosenthal in the second frame to make the score 4-1 at the final intermission. Ohio State added two more goals from Emerson Jarvis and Emma Peschel in the third period to make the final score 6-1. The Bucks outshot the Tommies 52-15 in this one with Buckeye goaltender Amanda Thiele stopping 14 of the 15 shots she faced to get the win. St. Thomas goaltender Saskia Maurer stopped 46 of the 52 shots she faced in the loss. The two teams are back at it tommorrow with game time at 1:00 pm for Senior Day festivities. A trusted source told me the doors will be opened at 11:45 so get there then to get a good seat!

Final Score From Friday, February 10th
Ohio State 6
St. Thomas 1

*** Post Accidentally Edited Into Oblivion. My Apologies. Thanks To Other Posters, The Following Was Recovered: ***

#1 Star: Emerson Jarvis, Ohio State
Emerson scored her first goal as a Buckeye, and what a goal it was! Dangling in the neutral zone, she found Emma Maltais at the offensive blue line. Always a good choice. Emma gained the zone, then gave Emerson a quality scoring chance. Stiff shot, but St. Thomas Goalie Saskia Mauer was equal to the task. Deciding that this play wasn't over, Ramsey Parent corralled the rebound and put another challenging shot on goal. Another Mauer save. But tonight was the night. This time Jarvis grabbed the rebound. The third shot was the charm, and Emerson had her inaugural goal.

With completion of the play, the Buckeye Bench erupted into a heartwarming, joyous celebration. If you didn't know better, you might think the celebration a bit excessive. Not so. This is a team that has each other's backs. Every Buckeye was rooting hard for Jarvis to get that first one. Me too.

With our win, the Gophers & Badgers tie along with Yale's loss we're back on top of the conference and pairwise!
It's a bright sunny day in Columbus and the tailgate awaits!

The conference standings is a flatfooted tie between OSU and Minnesota. And Minn clearly has the easier remaining schedule, two vs St Thomas and one vs Wisconsin, OSU having the reverse of that.

Emerson Jarvis goal was a favorite of all the goals tonight. I love EJ style of play. Slight in stature but will go mix it up with the big opponents. EJ doesn’t back down. She reminds me of a more under control Bink, another favorite. The team’s explosion of support for EJ reminded me when Elise Reimenschneider scored her lone goal several years ago against St. Cloud. Great reaction then, great reaction last night. Go Bucks!

Teagan did it!

I don’t follow closely enough to know these storylines but saw this in the morning and then saw reference to a special moment on Twitter…. And I had a feeling.

Looks like Kuntz got the start and shutout as well? Nice senior day performance.

Indeed!
Totally awesome experience at today's game.

Minnesota has the tie-breaker as they went 2-1-1 vs us this season. And yeah, with games vs St. Thomas, the Gophers are going to get six points next weekend.

Pgb's three stars was prophetic as Teagan Grant did light the lamp today. Not gonna lie, that was my favorite moment today! Big shout-out to Teags for that one! My second favorite moment today was seeing Quinn Kuntz get the start in net and the shutout win! It was a memorable Senior Day! Here's how it happened. The Buckeyes got two goals in the first period from Paetyn Levis and Gabby Rosenthal to take a 2-0 lead into the first intermission. Ohio State added two more goals in the second period from Jenn Gardiner and Makenna Webster to take a 4-0 lead into the final intermission. There was only one goal scored in the final frame and it came off the stick of Teagan Grant, her first collegiate goal! Ohio State outshot the Tommies by a wide margin again today, 51-17. Quinn Kuntz stopped all 17 shots she faced in the win. St. Thomas goaltender Alexa Dobchuk stopped 46 of the 51 shots she faced in the loss. The Buckeyes will travel to Madison next weekend to play Wisconsin. St. Thomas will host Minnesota next weekend.

Hope we're not falling into the trap of groupthink! (winking emoticon here)

I'm currently stargazing and will post the results in a bit.

Sounds good! Cannot wait to see this edition of the Three Stars of the Week! It was a special day. Senior Days usually are! Haven't seen happy tears like that since Senior Day 2020 when Elise Riemenschneider got her first collegiate goal! After Wisconsin's win vs the Gophers, I am stoked for next weekend as we have a chance for a program first ... a WCHA Regular Season Title. It will be a big challenge at LaBahn as it will be their Senior Weekend and we will see an energized Wisconsin team coming off their 7-5 win over Minnesota. But, hey, if you want to win this thing, you have to find a way to get four points up there. We'll see what happens.
