Ohio State 2024-25 Domination of the Portal Queen!

So this D Swiderski is some amazing get? Averages .25 pts per game and a plus 23ish average over 2 seasons. Probably a nice solid defensive D. Looks like Disher is in the same boat.

Swiderski played on the Canadian U19 team that won the gold at LaBahn in 2022, as did Disher, and Ava Murphy. I don't have any specific recollections of those two from that tournament, but you gotta figure they're roughly at Murphy's level. They're good 'gets'.

I think you already know that both of these players you mention are not amazing "gets". Think about the sinner lineup at D and then try to reason that the sinners would have had interest in either of these players. Maybe they reached out to them but not likely too much interest there. Very likely the sinners would have had interest in the UMD goaltender but again when that came out that she was in the portal it was so obvious as to where she was going.

So then, with that context, you see that the yuckeye shlub's claim that slOwSU got the players that the sinners wanted is really about them throwing their shoulders out trying to pat themselves on the back.

That Wisconsin expressed interest in them, to them, is a reasonable assumption. But it's only an assumption; it isn't necessarily the "stated fact" they/he want it to be. That was and is my objection. But yeah, "throwing shoulders" is a good way to put it.

I don't have a daughter who played hockey, but my son did. Not sure how I would feel as a parent about all these transfers and the rampant utilization of the portal in lieu of development. I would imagine it would make it difficult to trust Coach Muzerall enough to send my child there. But maybe that's a minority viewpoint. Is this an issue for potential recruits that is being expressed yet?

I think you guys are overlooking the fact that coming here will upgrade their game once they adapt to the Muzzinator's system and coaching.
Don't let the incoming players past stats give you a false sense of security.

There you have it in the duckies and bunnies land of slOwSU. Just assume that each and every player that ditches their former team to come to the land of unicorns and rainbows will automatically be better.

I'd say Mobley had a better year with Quinnipiac last year, of course she did get the Championship with OSU this year. I have to think Quinnipiac makes the tourney with her this year.

Makenna Webster had better numbers at Wisconsin. Sydney Morrow better at Colgate.

It's not the individual stats, they don't tell the whole story but how they fit in our program and contribute to the whole. Most of our players would obviously be standouts in other teams that aren't as loaded as ours.

You first mentioned stats in response to Tim's post about Swiderski, and you *clearly* meant to imply that hers' would get better at Ohio.

And yeah, that team that Webster played on, she was pretty much the only thing they had going... smh.

Sure but they aren't to the level of the players they poached last year. The advertising said they would be or even better!

Curious that you use words like "poached" seeming to imply we did something underhanded. You and Mr.Muzzinatir could have some interesting conversations when we're in your barn next season. (Wink)!
It's really getting too repetitive trying to make you understand how the portal actually works. Ohio State has nothing to do with players decisions to enter it and come to a different school. Sorry you can't handle the Portal Queen gets the best talent in it.
"advertising said they would be even better"? The National Championship banner going up in our barn is proof in full.
Every player who comes here has the understanding of they work hard enough and do what's asked of them then every year they will be contenders to play for the Natty.

But that isn't what you've said in the past. In the past, you've stated that there were "done deals" before players' names ever even made it to the portal. So which is it?

Direct quotes from prior posts you have made:

"You assume she wasn't a done deal before she appeared officially in the portal? Wait and see!"

"I'm sure it's a done deal like last year for Ohio State's incoming transfers, just have to wait for the portal to open to make it official."

There are always done deals.
Please don't kid yourselves and think it's all above board.
Also, and contrary to clouded belief, there are no game breakers in this years portal class.
Good players ? Yes a few. The rest could be put on the ice together and you wouldn't be able to tell one from another.

Oh, I understand there are schools and coaches who are going to push the limits, and maybe cross the line into "violation" territory. But no, I do NOT believe that "everybody does it".
