Brady kept us afloat as fs came strong all night. Greco deserves props for not only the gwg but saving an icing late.

Speaking of, Angeli with the great hustle to save icing at the end and allow the clock to run out!

**** happy right now!

Brady was the deciding factor tonight especially late in the 3rd as Ferris was playing for their lives. Hjelle stopped 47 of 49 shots on goal. Tell me he's not the best in the country!
I know they were letting the teams play but even with that I can't for the life of me understand when there was no call of any kind when we were pulled down from behind on the break away to the empty net. Supposed to be an automatic goal but then I forgot it was Wilkins out there. It seems though he wasn't playing favorites as I saw one Ferris fan screaming at him at the top of his voice and flipping him off.
It was hilarious when after that one non-call in the 3rd Krough yells from the bench so EVERYONE heard him "Are you Fu**ing kidding me?" One of the coaches immediately stopped him but we scored soon after so as far as I'm concerned you just keep yelling Devon if it brings us luck. LOL!

Tremendously proud right now.

IMHO, this was a breakthrough weekend for the program. Ferris brought a group of grizzled veterans to Ice Rink, particularly their top 6 forwards. They knew how to win playoff games; our young Bucks had to learn that lesson. Friday, we didn't quite measure up, and allowed the Bulldogs to knock us off our game. Saturday we met the challenge; tonight we overcame it. Who knows exactly what the future holds? But my thought is that the benefit of winning this series goes well beyond just getting to the Joe next weekend.

Congratulations also to Ferris State. Every Bulldog should leave Columbus with his head held high. That was an epic struggle.

Gritty is how I'd describe tonight. We got caught in the 2nd in some too long shifts and were extremely lucky it didn't go horribly wrong for us. Coach did a good job of quickly rotating fresh legs in in the later part of the 3rd so we'd still have some gas in the tank.

Re: Ohio State 2013/2014 - Third year in Oz

Strongly agree with the gritty description; and you're certainly correct about being forced into some long shifts. I wouldn't emphasize luck, however. Brady and the d corps came up huge. They took FSU's best shots and remained standing.

Re: Ohio State 2013/2014 - Third year in Oz

Of course all the Ohio State fans would agree that as the first team to be on the Mason Cup it's only fitting that we should be the last team on it as well. We'll know for certain how fortune smiles on us next weekend in Detroit.
GO BUCKS!

Great game by the Bucks tonight, especially Hjelle. No question he is one of the top goalies in the country, if not the best goaltender in the country. Not sure how we didn't get a call when our guy was hauled down from behind on a breakaway, but oh well. I also saw the FSU fan flipping off the refs ... laughable considering all the calls that went their way.

Speaking of referee Wilkins we may not have seen the last of him this season. He's been pretty tight with his current boss Mr.Piotrowski over the years and used to officiate on ice together so it seems he's taken Piotrowski's place as being one of the ref's who always gets chosen to officiate the finals at the Joe. Now I could be mistaken but it seems he's always there.

Just walked in my front door with the smile still on my face. Brady stole this game for sure especially in the 2nd when they could not get out of the defensive zone. It is going to be so nice to walk in the Joe and watch a Buckeye game for the first time in 8 years. The heart those kids showed tonight was unlike anything i have seen since the championship in 04. That effort if it can be given for 60 minutes on Saturday afternoon would most likely get them to the title game. Good Night and have a great week see everyone in Detroit on Saturday morning.

I went back and watched the highlights. How the heck did Greco get his stick on that puck. Watching live I thought it hit his leg or skate, great play. His speed makes such a difference IMO. McCormick with a goal in all 3 games, keep it up!

I hear ya. Goalie Brady Hjelle is one of the main reason this team is at the Joe Arena . Looking at any good team there's always a good goalie on the team. The old saying is , " A good team is buildt from the Goalie on out. " Go Bucks Go.

Re: Ohio State 2013/2014 - Third year in Oz

Just wish we had Brady for a few more years. Olson's been groomed to probably take over but does anyone remember who we recruited as a goalie next year?

Matt Tomkins who was just named goalie of the yer in the Alberta Hockey League and was drafted last year by Chicago IIRC.

I think we undervalue Joe Exter as the goalie coach - Cal Heeter last year and Brady Hjelle this year. I think we will be fine as long as Joe is in Columbus.

I've always thought highly of Joe. He's also a nice guy and a good family man.
