I'm good with 4th.
Got some mixed reaction from the team on playing in the barn, some like it but it seemed most don't.

It will be hard for me to get a ticket for that series. Not living in columbus i guess i will have to suck it up and pay the ticketmaster fees for the series.

Count me among those who would rather finish 4th and get that first round bye and home series in the second round, even if it means playing in the barn. Be tough to get tickets for that, but I'll bet the atmosphere will be better than it is in the Schott! The barn rocks when it's packed ... all 1,000 of us! :D

Re: Ohio State 2013/2014 - Third year in Oz

As usual season ticket holders get first shot at buying the tickets and the rest to everyone else after both teams get their allotments.

Re: Ohio State 2013/2014 - Third year in Oz

The schedules for Ferris and Alaska could not have been better for us. Ferris has a bye this coming weekend and Alaska has only one weekend of conference play as well as they host the Spartans next weekend and then play non conference against Anchorage for the Governor's Cup.
If Alaska loses just once to the Spartans then they cannot catch us.
Lake Superior and Bowling Green to catch us would have to win the remaining 4 games and we would have to lose them all.
I don't know about you but I feel pretty good going into the final stretch of regular season. How many years HAS it been that we alone controlled our destiny this late in the season?

The last time i can think of is 05 when they got the 2 seed and the bye to the Semifinals in Detroit after beating Ferris in 3 games. 1 Victory next weekend gets 5th place and that bye.

I must say, after you guys slapped the **** out of western last night, I am pretty worried about the series next weekend.

I'd be thrilled if Michigan got a split. Just need points. Any would be fine.

The only thing that's keeping me from writing this off as Michigan being swept is last season. ohio came into the series last year sky high and ranked #2 and they were outscored 8-1 at home. But then again, we had a goaltender who could make stops and shut teams out.

First of all, we would never write off Michigan regardless of what kind of season they're having. They have always had the ability to score quickly.
I'm not going to lie and say the sweep is not important to us but I'm hoping both teams play with a lot of energy and intensity.
How well have the Michigan fans been traveling this season? I always see the usual faces when you come to town and we usually play much earlier in the season and end up with poor traveling weather but if weather's not a factor this time could we see a lot of your fans, or given how the team is this year do they just not have the spirit to make the trip down?

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't enjoying your misery this season.:D

That said - there's way too much talent on your team for me not to be concerned. All it takes is for one goalie to get hot or the other goalie to have an off night,or one forward to suddenly discover a lost shot.

Re: Ohio State 2013/2014 - Third year in Oz

I too do not except an easy weekend, and I sure hope the team is not either. The standard for Ohio STATE Michigan is records do not matter. UM is coming off a bye week with plenty of time to work on things.

However, if it was reversed, and it has many times where UM is fighting for a 1st round bye or better, and we were struggling, I would have fully expected to lose. So our guys need to step and get points this weekend. As we know we;ve played 2 less conf games than FS so a big opportunity since we are even in points. Go Bucks!

Re: Ohio State 2013/2014 - Third year in Oz

I am in agreement with the others here this series will not be easy. Michigan has way to many weapons on offense to take them lightly. I know coach will not let the guys think this will be easy. Looking at Ticketmaster tickets are going fast in the lower 2 bowls for both games thats pretty exciting knowing over 10000 people will be in the Schott both nights. That has not happened since the Michigan series of 03.

Terrible weekend for WMU... but it sounded like it was a good clean series for the most part. Hopefully this is the last bad weekend for WMU. As much as I don't want to play your team again, I am pulling for you guys to make it to the Joe this year. I want to see Hjelle in action! Frank has been good to us and has had plenty of noteworthy saves (not on Saturday:D) but Hjelle.... how'd you guys get a brick wall to skate?

Good Luck against scUM next weekend!

Remember Friday's game is at 630 to accommodate BTN who is showing the game. Plan accordingly...

Re: Ohio State 2013/2014 - Third year in Oz

That can be taken care of this weekend by beating up on Michigan!

Really, with Ferris State and Alaska only having two games left to play and us four, there is no reason why we shouldn't be able to get enough points these next two weekends to finish 4th.

So with all this expectation on how well we'll finish, who's up for going to Detroit if we make it?

I don't think Western had anything to be ashamed about how they played last weekend and personally I thought they looked pretty good. We just are peaking at the right time of the season and had home ice advantage.
