Ohio State 2013/2014 - Third year in Oz

Re: Ohio State 2013/2014 - Third year in Oz

Yep & we still can't beat the Redhawks. I think the Redhawks had more of the disadvantage with there top 2 players gone than the Bucks Head Coach. Eh.

I am disappointed, but it's hard to complain about a 1-0 loss to the #5 team in the country. Now, if we somehow lose to Penn State tomorrow, I am going to be ticked off.

Im not really disappointed about losing to Miami but not scoring goals is starting to get old. They have only scored 9 goals in there last 7 games going back to the Series at Michigan State.

The BUCKS should be a scoring machine against Penn State. Any video on the game for Saturday afternoon?

Re: Ohio State 2013/2014 - Third year in Oz

Stats showed we controlled the first two periods with no penalties and 23 shots on goal compared to Miami's 13 and had 2 PP's. 3rd period they came out to play and we didn't. If we could learn to score on a PP maybe it would have been different?

MEDIA COVERAGE
Friday's game will not be televised, however both of Saturday's games will air on Root Sports Pittsburgh on tape delay. Paul Stegierwald will have the call on television. Both games this weekend will also have live audio on MURedHawks.com through the All-Access subscription package as John Walton will have the call. Saturday's game will be on radio as well on WMOH-AM 1450 out of Hamilton, Ohio.

RSP's website has Denver vs. BU tonight, and no mention of the TRC games through at least Thursday, so who knows. I'm sure the organizers had their reasons, but pretty disappointed in the lack of video for this tournament. One of the few (only?) times I can recall that a game was simply not made available on line for a fee.

3-2 mid 2nd period. I see they went with Goalie Collin Olson. Maybe the Coaches thought this was going to be a easy win???
lose 5-4. I think the entire team thought this was going to a cakewalk and their minds were already back in Columbus.

Sorry, but I do not see one ounce of leadership on this team and not one bit of pride in their performance or in the uniforms they are wearing. No wonder most of the really good players in the Columbus area head to Miami. We are now back in the Jerry York style days.

And of course for three years now the coach has thought it more important to be off coaching as an assistant at the world juniors than staying home and doing the job he is being paid to do in Columbus. I think we see where his commitment is.

I hear ya. If this team doesn't get turned around this second half soon , it's going to be one HELL of a 4th year for Coach OZ next season.. :D

And perhaps the Nittany Lions thought that it was a subtle insult.
This was the third time this season Penn State has rebounded to win after a Friday night dud, the second time before over ten thousand at a neutral site.

Re: Ohio State 2013/2014 - Third year in Oz

Someone is going to need to talk me off the ledge on this one. We lost to a team that was club status last year. Are you kidding me? 0-4-2 in our last six. Looks like the boys have started their annual second-half meltdown early! No excuse for this one whatsoever. I think everyone, coaches and players, need to look in the mirror and decide what kind of season they want to have. Clearly, this team is at a fork in the road. They can start playing inspired hockey and win some games, or they can pack it in like they appeared to do today. It's up to them. I have mixed feelings about Coach Oz being across the pond coaching juniors. If it helps us get better recruits, I am ok with it. If it doesn't, then he needs to be here coaching our team.

Coaches like Jerry York, the late Shawn Walsh, Bergeron, Parker and Mason to name a few always seemed to put talented consistent teams on the ice year after year; their commitments were and always have been with their NCAA teams not the Juniors. I agree with Draighlicht, Oz has shown he is looking after himself and himself only.

I disagree as Oz has the unique opportunity to represent the USA. If he was looking out for only himself he wouldn't go! Bergeron?

Thanks Hocper, good read, Berenson.
I agree it is an opportunity for HIM.. Doesn't do much for the OSU program... Which isn't doing as well as everyone expected....

If your own house is falling down and needs a ton of work why would you spend your time helping someone else with their house? :D

Re: Ohio State 2013/2014 - Third year in Oz

Losing to a team that lost to the Arizona St club team is not good.

I am utterly speechless. I can't believe we are this bad.

Guys, put away all the sharp objects and take a deep breath. Yeah, our guys mailed it in on Saturday against Arizona State, but don't forget they went to Union and held the Dutchmen to a 2-0 empty-net goal win on Friday and beat RIT before 10,000 of their rabid fans. BTW, after that win the RIT thread read just like this one.

I'm admittedly biased, but maybe it's time for everyone to admit the Nittany Lions have some talent right now and will be even better next season with the recruiting class coming in the fall.
