Official XXX Summer Olympiad: London 2012- Take II

Re: Official XXX Summer Olympiad: London 2012- Take II

Now let's hope another miraculous semifinal victory isn't spoiled against the Japanese (written in full so as not to offend ;))

Can't we try to reenact the War of 1812 and invade Canada? :D

I did hear Marcelo Balboa say that the refs usually give a warning if you hang onto it too long. Anyways, I understand the Canadian complaints. They played probably one of the best games they ever played and lost. As a person who covers sports in Upstate NY, I never like getting comments from teams that lose. That's usually the time you'll hear someone say something in the heat of the moment. I get that they are upset. I would give the players a reprimand or warning. Their coach needs to be suspended for the comments before that fanned the flames.

Of course, I would put it past FIFA to suspend the Canadians to give Messieur Platini's France the Bronze for "all of his good work." :D

I guess he( the coach) was mad they didn't get a yellow card, but even if they had I doubt it would have mattered at all. And yeah everyone hates to lose. I could see the delay call but the hands call was iffy.

Is Larry The Cable Guy doing color for weight-lifting?

This guy is awesome.
"It would be like putting the US women's gymnastics team in a box and lifting them"

"That looked really heavy off the floor."
Ya think, it's 500+ pounds!

The Canadian coach shoulda done this to channel his inner Canadian.

Bring it on –we'll kick your butts like we did 200 years ago! :p :D

Seriously, I didn't see the match or the suspect call (curse the stupid IOC rules that won't let me see Canadian coverage) but I can understand their frustration. I'm old enough to remember the incompetent Josef Kompala during the 72 Summit Series.

I hate it when an official puts him/herself in the way of an outstanding contest.

And Sinclair it's a stud (studette?) for sure –one of the best female players in the world.

Perhaps the Canucks shouldn't have given up three goals in the 2nd half if they wanted to win. It's not the ref's fault they choked or that they don't know how to defend a header.

So it is that Romanian Izabasa that did the floor exercise to Pink Floyd.

Only a Canadian would look back on the Summit Series (which the Canadians won in part by injuring/cheap shorting Kharlamov) and think of how the refs were against them.

For some people (myself included) sex and virginity provide subtext for jokes about Lolo Jones not medaling.

For the dumbest people on earth (AKA your typical person on Twitter), it's the actual reason that she didn't medal.

Weep for humanity. Or ask these people, who will tell you that humanity just needs some good sex.

I wonder how may of those are posted by themselves. If so, what a way to proclaim to the world that you are a total moron. with a picture and everything.

All I can say- if that actually provides you with a mate of some kind- you are welcome to them....

Re: Official XXX Summer Olympiad: London 2012- Take II

It's kind of funny which "sports" award Olympic medals, and which don't.

For example, if "trampoline" is a "sport" then shouldn't "trapeze" be a sport as well?

Or weightlifting....I always thought of that as something one does to train for a sport, not as a "sport" in itself.

Trampoline is fairly similar to existing events, as they incorporate the kinds of tumbling moves that are done in artistic gymnastics dismounts and diving.

If you're going to call out funny events, how about rhythmic gymnastics? I enjoy watching it for the artistry, but I don't consider it to be much of a sport.

If we're calling out ****ty "sports", I want to toss in a vote for ping pong. Or at least say that if we're saying ping pong belongs, then add darts and billiards as well.

I dunno, table tennis is hard as hell at the level they are playing it at.
