That Senegal defender is a moron.

So,is the fact that the US can't qualify for the Olympics enough to get soccer fans to stop telling me how the next generation is the one that's going to "get the US over the top" in the World Cup?

I said to my kids that this Honduras goalie insisting on giving possession back to Brazil every time he has the ball will come back to bite them and voila that is what happened on the the Brazilian goal.

And for the record, Mexico didn't qualify in 2008. With the team that won the U17 World Cup 3 years earlier.

Watching the 20K walk. It's weird, and it's semi boring, but there is no commentary, which may be a saving grace. How can you get excited (unless you're a Monty Python fan) about walking?

All I know about race walking is that you can get DQed for walking to fast (also known as jogging :p)....

and here she is playing again on the same day, 5-4 in the first set of the women's doubles semi-final. She's played a singles match and a doubles match on the same day several times, and several days in succession too.

Amazing symmetry, whether Serena and Venus win the doubles gold, or not:
> 2000, Venus gets singles gold, and she and Serena get doubles gold
> 2008, Venus and Serena get doubles gold
> 2012, Serena gets singles gold, doubles medal still TBD.

I didn't get to watch the USA-LTU game. Anyone want to recap what happened? I'm assuming Lithuania didn't turn it over 30+ times and actually guarded the three, not allowing the US to just have a competitive shoot around.

Will GBR lose this MSOC QF on penalties? 30 min of extra time are all that separate them from the usual fate.

LTU sat back in a zone and let the US shoot from the outside...and they didn't shoot well at all. On the other end of the floor, LTU torched the US with the pick and roll. Layup, layup, layup all game long. In final five minutes, the US forced some turnovers and made a few threes to go on a 14-5 run which was enough to get the win.

We got burned by the pick and roll again? How does that continually happen to the US? We have the best players in the world yet they don't know how to defend a pick and roll.

LTU walked around the US D all game long, it wasn't till Lebron and Chris Paul decided to get serious did the US put them away. Carmelo and Kevin Durant were awful. They all missed free throws. LTU played as good as they could.
