Re: Official Video Games Thread VII: The 7th Generation Comes To A Close

Once NCAA 14 drops to $29 I'll probably get it. I've always preferred NCAA over Madden anyways. Although this being the 25th Anniv. Ed. I might get that one also.

My purchase list for this year keeps getting longer and more expensive, and that doesn't even count the console releases.

FF XIV (PC/PS3), Dragon's Crown (PS3/VITA), GTA V (PS3), Saint's Row IV (PS3), FIFA 14 (PS3), Pokemon X/Y (3DS)

Amazon Gold Box on Tuesday will be made up entirely of video games. No details available yet but if you're planning to buy, Tuesday might be your day.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VII: The 7th Generation Comes To A Close

I haven't paid much attention to the upcoming XBox and PS4, and only some of the topics have been touched on in this thread:

Does the PS4 do backwards compatibility with PS3 games? Does XB1 do backwards compatibility with 360 games?

Entertaining the thought of picking up NHL14, GTA V, and possibly some older games like Red Dead Redemption and Call of Duty... Wasn't sure if I should just wait for the new systems to release then pick up the games, or if I should jump in now and let it ride for year or so then get the newest system.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VII: The 7th Generation Comes To A Close

Neither are backwards compatible.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VII: The 7th Generation Comes To A Close

Yeah, it has to do with them changing to PC based architecture.

Which may end up being one of the smartest decisions made by these companies. Both are using the same (or effectively the same) CPU. Makes the lives of developers 100x easier.

Playing Dragon's Crown, also known as Boob Story. But beyond the titilation it's a fun sidescrolling beat-em up. There is both couch co-op and online multiplayer (up to 4). Although Online isn't unlocked until about 5.5 hours in to the game. Thankfully you don't have to solo even when playing alone. You can gain allies to use by collecting their bones and resurrecting them.

Also working through the first DLC (created entirely after the game came out) for Bioshock Infinite. It's basically 5 or 6 arena area's based on levels in the game. There is bonus cash for beating each of the waves in a certain way. The first area has 15 waves. Has leaderboards of course, and has a museum where you can unlock (buy) all of the items in it to make it complete.

My gf bought Tales of Xillia. Haven't seen much of that yet.

Amazon has NCAA 14 marked down to $39.99. No idea how long this sale will last but if you were waiting for a price drop, here it is.

Awesome.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VII: The 7th Generation Comes To A Close

Beat Dragon's Crown on "normal" difficulty. Took me 18-19 hours. Beating it unlocks "hard" mode, which in turn would unlock "inferno" mode. Interestingly, instead of starting over with the new difficulty, you keep your level and equipment and the game just makes the levels and bosses much harder.

It also institutes level caps for each difficulty (35 Normal, 65 Hard, 99 Inferno). If you join a game on a lower mode your character is respec'd down to that levels cap so you can play.

Quest progress is also maintained, as well as unlocking a bunch of new ones as you move to the next difficulty. Nice change of pace on the NG+.

How does the girlfriend like the depictions of the lady characters in that game? I've read some reviews, and most of the female reviewers are not in the happy camp for this game.

XBone has reportedly dropped the mandatory Kinect functionality.

Do we have a console race again? Or is it too little too late? Or were they pulling a New Coke all along? Or am I about to stuff twenty live squirrels in my pants?

O_o

...those aren't even boobs any more. They have ceased to be boobs, they're more like...giant testicles hanging from her chest.

I don't think that last option is in any relation to the previous questions.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VII: The 7th Generation Comes To A Close

It's relevant because of course it is.

It could be. I would not be surprised if you decided to stuff twenty live squirrels down your pants for the lulz, with no concern to the current video game situation. :D

Considering what Microsoft has done lately it is possible that stuffing twenty live squirrels down your pants could be a requirement to buy the new XBox One. So it could be relevant...
