Why keep the non-revenue sports? Ax them and just have football and maybe basketball.
Exactly! Then those sports would come back and say "OK, if you keep us we won't ask to be paid". Now they are only paying 2 sports and the rest are as before. Win for the greedy NCAA!

Go to Youtube and search for "NG Drive." Right now. Trust me.

Alpha build is $15, tech demo is FREE.

Anyone have a recommendation for a USB drive to add storage to the Xbox 360?

Re: Official Video Games Thread VII: The 7th Generation Comes To A Close

Xbox recommends their branded USB drive of course, but I've used a regular USB drive with no issues. I don't remember the brand, but it was just some generic drive I had to use in a pinch when my hard drive failed.

Anything more than that, probably depends on what you want it for. Just wanting to move your gamer tag to another Xbox, probably anything would work. For DLC, you'd probably want a faster drive. To back up unique files like game saves, probably either the cloud option if its available, or a drive with good reliability. Also, usable space is limited to 32 GB (functionally slightly less than that) regardless of drive size, so if you want more than that, get a hard drive.

Also, this may seem like a no-brainer, but I'd avoid any novelty USB drives. Supposedly some cheap drives don't work with the Xbox, not to mention some of the really funky shaped ones might have issues fitting into the slot if your Xbox has the recessed slots. Mine does, not sure about the slims.

This is what happens when you hack GTA IV and set the tire friction to -9.

Played quite a bit of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn this weekend, during its final beta phase. Game releases Aug 27th, but there is early access for pre-orders starting Aug 24th.

I like that you can play a lot of it without a party if you want, and when you need a party for something there is an in-game function that creates the party for you. You can also make your own of course.

I also like that your character can switch between classes / jobs just by changing their weapon. It lets you save gear sets, so you don't have to re-equip each time either. For example, my first class is a Lancer (lvl 20), and my second class is a Pugilist (lvl 15). Each class starts at level 1, but you don't lose the levels of your other ones.

I'll see if I stick with it long term. $12.99 / mo isn't too bad for an MMO. I'd bet it's lower if you buy longer time segments than just 30 days.

Holy ****. I had to stop at 0:38 because I was laughing uncontrollably at work.

The PS4 will hit stores November 15 and retail for $399

Better call a plumber cause GTAV is leaking everywhere.

/badjoke

But really, be cautious for the next couple of days is you're worried about spoilers.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VII: The 7th Generation Comes To A Close

Heads-up for anyone who bought the 360 version: do not install the play disc to the HDD. There have been freezing issues reported.

PS3 may be having similar problems.

Yeah, the PSN version has the same problem. Apparently, it's too much data coming through one pipeline. The 360 version appears to be fine if you install to separate locations. I.E. the hard drive and a flash drive.

Lessons learned:

- Crashes can damage your health. And they HURT. A bad enough one can kill you on impact from full health (did it twice, once on a crotch rocket and once in an Infernus.)
- Don't jack a car in gang territory. Unfortunately, you will only know this has happened when you do so and 10 red dots instantly pop up around you like herpes. Time to reload.
- PETA is going to have a grokking field day with the deer.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VII: The 7th Generation Comes To A Close

Saw a story on the local news today that three guys got arrested for using a fake police badge to impersonate a cop... in order to convince a clerk at a game store to sell them a copy of GTAV before it's official release. And then they got caught because they made an illegal u-turn on their way out of the mall and got pulled over by the real cops! Some people deserve to get caught.

I'm pretty excited for FIFA 14 next week. Sad to say, but I don't really have the attention span or free time required for immersive stuff like GTA these days.

I've only played maybe an hour total so far. All I've learned is:

- The "Premium Lounge" at the strip club has uncensored bewbies. I was surprised by that for some reason.
- Cars handle HORRIBLY. Steering is an absolute joke so far.
- Getting gold on missions is going to be a total pain in the ass. I will probably skip even trying it.

Eh, Ballad of Gay Tony had full frontal.

I like the steering better than 4, it allows for slick moves in traffic. Make sure to build everyone's driving skill up and use Franklin's special (click both sticks while driving for bullet time.) It gets better. Only thing that's weird to me is the handbrake, the camera shift screws with you.
