I've been playing the Final Fantasy X HD Remaster. Playing it years later I remember two things: It's a pretty good game. And you can really see how the FF went downhill afterwards.

Never played anything after 8 until I got into XIV, take 2, which is actually pretty good for a MMO - nice storyline, fun to see the various call backs to FF lore, a lot of the content is soloable, the stuff that isn't has a decent party finder, etc. Stopped playing just cause I didn't have the time commitment for the end game raiding - stuck with it for a good 6-9 months though.

For me, FF8 was the best with X coming in basically tied.

The new X HD is incredible. It's what that game was meant to look like. Gorgeous. And while I agree the overall series has taken a massive dump, certain elements of the new games are nice to have.

FF8 is my favorite (gunblade ftw!) but 6 and 7 are two of the best.

10 I do like, it's beautiful, it has a fun mini game, and the battle system is good. But, like I said, you play it now and you see the signs of doom. They got rid of ATB, which is ok because what replaced it with was good. But you could see that they were gonna * it up in the future. Same with the lack of a World Map, they took it out but still had a way to explore the world. They made changes but still kept true to what makes FF. But you can see that this game made them too overconfident in changing things and that's why every game since has been terrible.

I finally fed the beast last night and bought some donuts on Simpons:Tapped Out. Went on a building spree and got mostly the original premium characters, Duffman, Professor Frink, Hank Scorpio, Bumblebee Man, and Sideshow Mel.

Today I decided to get one of the premium lotto tickets and hit the jackpot. Promptly spent most of it on Dr. Nick. :D

Finishing touches being put on my birthday present as we speak.

There's an empty spot in my living room awaiting it :D

Hint: it couldn't POSSIBLY be more Alaska appropriate.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VII: The 7th Generation Comes To A Close

Welp, I've been bitten by the "wander around your city like a doof claiming landmarks" mobile phone game genre.

'Twas Ingress that did the deed. Project by one of Google's design teams. Main gimmick is that there are two teams (Enlightened, who want to use the alien stuff spilling into our world that may or may not confer mind control powers to *cough* advance humanity, and Resistance, which seek to *cough* protect humanity from whatever this stuff is. I play Resistance.) You fortify and level up your team's portals and attack the other team's portals to take control. If your team controls two portals that are close enough together you can link them, and if you link three or more points into a polygon you build a field that encompasses the entire polygon.

I basically spend an hour every evening driving around my block fortifying our portals now (at least until some level 11 inevitably comes by and crushes them all.) It's getting sad.

Now up to level 6 on Ingress.

I'm now at the point where I'm strong enough to reliably attack and take down the other team's stuff. Meaning the game gets FUN now.

Looks like Ed O'Bannon and friends won the court case. The judge shot holes in just about every arguement the defense offered.

Except for the whole thing that he excludes all women's sports?

Unless women's basketball was included.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VII: The 7th Generation Comes To A Close

Pokemon X/Y event started yesterday. Y receives a lvl 50 Pinsir and X receives a lvl 50 Heracross.

The Mega evo stones for those two are in the opposite game. So it requires a trade to get those.
