Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Ahh. You buying a disc is the only reason I guessed PS3 :D , as they are attached to Steam now as well for some games.

I've pretty much given up on disc based gaming for PC now. I've converted to full digital despite the inherent risk of not actually owning my games at some point in the future. I don't think technology is going to go backwards, so I feel pretty safe that the digital distribution model will only get better and better and phase out discs.

Yes, I know Steam got hacked last week.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

When I think of playing something on PC (except for Civ), I read this and move on. :)

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

I'm not sure how enemies are related to your level in Skyrim, but I haven't noticed any of them becoming significantly easier than before. I think you need to use your perks wisely or you could struggle with some sections. I didn't spend much on my attack damage (one hand + blade) initially and noticed the difficulty. Once I got my one-hand damage to +60% and 10% crit chance with blade it seems to be getting better. Just a word of warning.

At level 16 I am at 120 Magicka, 200 Health, 130 Endurance (15 increases).

Joined Dark Brotherhood, The Companions, and Thieves Guild so far. Interestingly the Sanctuary (DB home) has a Shout word in it. I have learned parts of 5 shouts I believe. Peace, Whirlwind, Unrelenting Force (2 words), Mark for Death, and Inferno. Although I can't use Peace or Inferno yet, as I haven't earned enough dragon souls.

Also bought and completely furnished Breezehome in Whiterun. Gives my companion Lydia a place to hang out when I don't need her.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

F* Killzone 2. F* FPS's.

They are not for me. Spent about 3 hours on the game, maybe lasted 20-30 minutes each time (and most of that was figuring out wteff to do) before getting killed. I'll stick to my racing and sports and more-thinking games.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Downloading the Initiation Station for SR3 so I can make my character early.

Prepare thyself, JF.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Oh I am ready. My only concern is the time zone issue. We may be relegated to weekends only.

There's also that silly Skyrim thing to worry about.

I'm 3 hours behind you. I'm off work typically at 4:30, home by 4:45, dinner/Internet addiction fed by about 6. So watch for me after 9 your time. I could (and probably will) try to accelerate the process a bit.

Character is done. Pretty close to the same character I had in SR2 (badass goth/cyber Asian chick.) Some of the characters on the website are incredible. Duke Nukem, Dark Knight Joker, Na'vi, etc.

ETA: I usually do bar trivia on Wednesday evenings. There's also that little issue of living 5 minutes away from Sullivan Arena. This "social life" feature should have been dropped in beta testing.

You've gotten significantly more done than I have though we are the same level or about the same level (I am either 15 or 16, pretty sure I hit 16 though). Most of my perks go to archery, one hand, sneak, destruction, and light armor. I'd say I've noticed some monsters getting easier, mostly human ones and random outside encounters. Though alot fo that probably has to do with the leveling up of my sneak and archery skills and being able to one shot alot of people without being seen by the person next to them.

I'm at parts of 3 shouts I think, with 2 useable, and have only joined the companions thus far. In fact I haven't visited any other holds yet but White Run. I also have Breezehome, but only partially furnished. My build is pretty balanced between health and magika with stamina almost abandoned at this point. I have yet to encounter lack of stamina isues and the 90% of the time I have Lydia with me which solves the carrying capacity issue.

My reliance on discs is from plenty of experience mainly with MMO's. I travel alot and internet reliability at hotels can be really shady, especially outside the US, so when wanting to patch or whatever I often find myself needing to elave the laptop on overnight and praying. (My home connection is not that great either). The last straw came after a bout of WoW really screwing up and corrupting alot with the file checker not working when I was away. Trying to download that entire game and all of it's patches on a poor connection is less than fun. Luckily I haven't touched WoW in about a year now. But since then I've always liked having discs as backups becuse they often shred installation times, (and installing on multiple computers with steam is annoying as well as you can only be on with one device at a time)

Doing The Greybeards/High Hrothgar main quest gets you several more shout words for free (no dragons needed). As well as getting one from a dungeon on the way there in Ivangard (sp).

I think it was random, but I met an unnamed dragon on the way up the 7000 steps. So be prepared for that possibility.

I'm not concerned with balancing Skyrim and SR3. I could play Skyrim from 3:30 to 8, and then switch to SR3 from 8 to whenever. :D

Social life is overrated.

Oh I have already met my share of random dragons that are just hanging out in places I fast travel to. That one must of been random, I didn't encounter a dragon on the 7000 steps, an ice troll, but no dragons. I got that one in the dungeon as well. On the main quest line I am at the point where the Greybeards send you out of the temple. Leaving ti there to focus on guilds for a while starting on the companions

I am ready to kill some pimps today!

A little musical inspiration for tomorrow:
I was thinking, we haven't tried to hold a building against the police/military. I wonder how long it would take them to overtake us. :D

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

So there is already add-on content for SR3.

Funtime Pack! (free/pre-order) - Squid Gun, Human Cannon Vehicle, etc.
Invincible Pack (240) - Ultimate Clip, Infinite Mass, Super Saints, Get Down Cheat
Shark Attack Pack (160) - Shark Bite Hat, Shark-O-Matic
Online Pass (800) - Play SR3 online. I'm guessing this is for non-gold members.
Season Pass (1600) - Get the future DLC for this discounted one time price. Nyte Blayde Pack, Genkibowl VII, Gangstas in Space, The Trouble With Clones

Is there any way to get the Professor Genki pack without pre-ordering? It's in the Collector's Edition, right?

I never bother with pre-orders since store traffic is light enough here that I'm usually able to just walk in and grab the game I need. And I freaking want that octopus gun and the human cannon car.

None of the web sites seem to give a straight answer on if it is included with the Platinum Edition, or if it is only for pre-order (of either edition).

Worst Case Scenario maybe you can try saving my cannon truck in the garage and see if it lets you keep it. Same with gun, you could put it in your weapon cache.

They'll probably eventually release it as DLC I suppose.

Picked it up at lunch. Waiting for 4:30 so I can clock out and head home. Will pre-load to hard drive as always, so might take a while.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

SR3 is good times. Whored Mode (Hoarde) made me laugh.

Wave 2: BDSM - Don't worry they paid for this.

:D
