Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Mass Effect 3 (PC, XBox, PS3): March 6, 2012
Diablo III (PC): likely Q4 2011 (Blizzard and Activision will want it available by XMas)
Torchlight II (PC): Q4 2011

LOL. Those are the three that I want.

Diablo 3, where blizzard literally prints money. In game auction house where you can buy items for real money.

I am fine with the micro-transaction model. I even support it financially in some of the games I play.

Building it in will reduce some of the scams of selling gold for USD that happens in MMOs as well as keep the cash going to the developers.

It's not micro-transactions per se. It's just you can list your loot for real money rather than in-game gold (and, likewise, buy it with real money rather than in-game gold), with Blizzard taking a fee off the top.

I don't mind it in some ways, though it does cheapen the loot. Half the fun of Diablo/Torchlight/etc. is the random loot you find.

I'd bet they have loot thats flagged as non-trade, not-resell to help keep the rare loot rare.

All loot that isn't quest/soulbound including in-game currency. There will be a fee for posting it, a fee on the person buying it, then a fee on using the service to actually transfer the money. Basically ebay.

You also need a constant internet connection even for single player. (Like that won't be fixed quickly) And there will be no modding.

Also, word on the street is Blizz copyrighted a few things that would mean kung fu pandas are up for the next WoW expansion.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Machinarium is $2.50 on Steam today.

Simple, fun puzzle based adventure game that you will probably complete in only a couple hours. Although the very last puzzle threw me off a bit.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Only games I see me getting in the next several months are MW3, FIFA 12, and NHL 12.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Steam is running 4 days of Quakecon deals starting today.

Obviously huge savings on things related to those 2 franchises. As well as it looks like free items for TF2 if you pre-order Rage or Quake 4.

Also Brink is free to play this weekend.

So apparently one of the other "classic" jokes of college hockey might be coming true...like the B1G TEN...

Honestly I can't believe it...but it looks like this could be for real...somebody from Washington Times is talking about writing a story.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Unbelievable deal today.

Morrowind GOTY + Oblivion GOTY for only $14.99 today on Steam. 2 Full games + their expansions at that price is ridiculous.

Other deals:

Fallout: New Vegas - $14.99
Fallout 3 GOTY - $22.49
Brink - $24.99

All Quake and Doom items are discounted for Quakecon still.

Word of advice: don't buy a pinball machine if you live on a top floor. They are HEAVY.

It's up and running. Pics are on my Facebook because I fail at Photobucket at the moment.

I clicked the link and Twitter twatted that the page doesn't exist.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

So this may not be the ideal place to be asking this, but I figure I'll give it a shot.

I recently got an email from Blizzard giving me a link to verify my email address for Battle.net account registration. Considering I don't have any Blizzard products and never signed up for any account with them, and my name isn't "zhang", I figure somebody's trying to do something fishy.

It's a standard noreply email address, and their support site really doesn't have anything useful in this regard. Think I should be OK just deleting the email and going about my business? Or should I pursue this any further? I assume that since I'm not clicking the verify link, it shouldn't let them do anything, but I really don't have any experience with this.

Ignore it. my spam filter is full of fake e-mails from people looking to steal WoW and battle.net accounts.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Steam deals.

Dungeons - $13.59
Dungeons Map Pack - $1.01

Bunch of other Kalypso Games.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Evening, gentlemen. I have what might be a dumb question (I'm pretty good at those).

I have a newer version PS2 with a couple controllers (not wireless), with about a dozen games. Everything in fairly nice condition. Original boxes with the games, but not the PS2 itself. I haven't played it in about 6 months and I'm looking to unload it. What am I looking at if I take this stuff to a Gamestop or similar store?

Thank you in advance.
