Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

PSN says it could be one or two days until service is restored.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

If you pre-order Dungeon Siege III you get parts I&II immediately for free on Steam. Pretty good deal for $49.99.

I already own I, but am considering it.

You get what you pay for.

Kidding aside, that seriously blows for you ps3'ers.
The 4 people who bought PSN Plus are also not able to connect. :p No I don't have it.

Great *ing timing. I get a PS3 today, and can't log on (meaning no Netflix either on the PS3). Do a quick search and find out about the outage. *ing wonderful.

BTW, I found the 320GB PS3/GT5 package, so went with that instead of the Move package.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Finished DeathSpank T.O.V. and its achivements. Good fun.

Now i'm going to try and clean up some achievements in games that I have nearly all of them in. Oblivion (1 left in Shivering Isles), Lego Star Wars Complete Saga (blue kits), and Fable III (traitors expansion).

Supposedly they were saying 2 days. So it should be up by tomorrow. Since you are going out tonight anyways, it shouldn't effect you much. ;)

GT5 is nice, minus the freaking grinding once you get to the 20's.

Portal 2 is AMAZING so far. An absolute must buy. It is perfect. I'm just getting into the Repulsion/Propulsion gel, loving everything about the game so far. The story telling is surprisingly deep, the humor is just as good, if not better, than the first game, the puzzles are challenging and yet enjoyable.

Well worth the $60. I think I'm about 1/2 - 2/3 through. I've played about 4-5 hours so far. And I've yet to touch multiplayer.

I heard by Wednesday. Not too encouraging, but its worth the wait. Apparently Sony is "rebuilding" its network to prevent someone from hacking it like in this case.

They apparently don't realize that absolutely nothing is hack proof. They can make it better, but never completely safe.

I'm glad I have other options. If I only had a PS3 i'd be pretty ****ed about up to 6 days of downtime.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

are there any MLB11 The show players in here? What is the usefulness of BR AGG?

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

So, for a traditional sports game guy, maybe more strategery now and then (think a less complicated/intensive GTA), I'm thinking on FIFA, Masters golf, The Show, maybe that Vegas Red Dead game. What are the thoughts on the Mafia series? How intricate is Red Dead?

Brent, if you just got a ps3, I have a handful of games I can loan you to try out including FIFA, The Show 10, etc.

That would work. Just bought it yesterday, with the standby GT5, which is a series I love. Trying to figure out what games I would like, and that are not button-mashing/89376290834 hours to complete/55-button combos to do anything, that sorta thing.

There's a new Mortal Kombat out and it looks sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.

I'd hope that NHL is a must have for you..

I have been playing the Gears of War III Beta, **** I cannot wait for the real thing. so fun.

Uncharted 2 was awesome, I beat that a long time ago but I would suggest it...

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Get Portal 2 if you like strategy games, some real mind bending puzzles.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

I bought my system months ago, only have NHL and FIFA and GTA, and have not yet felt any need to buy anything else because those three games are so good. NHL is an obvious starting point for a hockey fan.

Mafia seemed pretty "meh" to me when I played it.

Since most of the games you should get have been out awhile, they will be cheap. I'd say the must haves are:

- MLB The Show 11 (Well Played Mauer.)
- Tiger Woods 11 (Women aren't allowed at Augusta, so you are safe Tiger!)
- FIFA 11 (The real football?)
- NHL 11 (Injure Canucks at will!)
- Red Dead Redemption (Grand Theft Horse is awesome & there is gambling)
- Uncharted 2 (Your imaginary gf will think its a movie)
- LittleBigPlanet 2 (Get your platforming fix)
- Grand Theft Auto IV (Kill arrogant east coasters)
- Fallout 3 & Fallout: New Vegas (Guns, Mutants, Vegas)
- Borderlands (5 million guns)
- Saints Row 2 (flaming go-karts, pimps, choppers)
