Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

I'm glad they made the dragon challenging, or at least I assume that's what the 50 point dragonslayer refers to.
Watching the 3 videos in the other link, they show 3 separate dragons (2 in one fight). So that achievement could refer to a greater dragon (or boss type), as there is clearly not just one in the game.

Since there is 20 dragon shouts and you need a dragon soul to complete one, I'd assume there is at least 20 in the game.

I figured it would refer to killing your first or something, but the comments indicate that it refers the last story quest.

Nothing like racing the ghost in Rivals clean instead driving right through it. :p

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Bought the pay version of xPadder for my PC ($9.99). Was tired of trying to find a free version that is new enough to run on Windows 7 and has as many improvements as possible (and isn't from a virus site). This way I at least get the newest version going forward free for life. Plus version 6.x works great so far. Got TES:Oblivion running via 360 controller in preparation for Skyrim.

Started a DE Bow Caster.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Been having issues with changing my XBox Live payment method/subscription, I was set up for yearly renewal on one card, and wanted to switch it to monthly on another card, but the system is stupid and can't figure out how to do that.

Now, M$ has been attempting to charge the yearly rate onto the first card, which A, I don't use anymore (though the account is still open), and B, doesn't have the money in it to cover the charge. Instead of contacting me about it, they have been trying for a solid month now to charge that card the yearly rate, as I've been trying multiple times to change it.

Now my account on XBL is suspended because they think I owe them $60. I called up Customer Support (yuck) and was on hold for about 10 minutes. Actually got a very helpful guy, and he was American and I could actually understand and communicate! I told him the situation and that I wanted to switch to the 2nd card, monthly rate. He tried to switch the payment type and card, but came back saying it doesn't work and I'm literally SOL. The thing he would be able to do is, once the 60 is initially charged, refund me the appropriate amount minus the 2 months this thing has been in limbo. Very nice, very helpful, except I don't have the initial $60 available at the moment, being a poor college student and all.

I'm not too mad at M$ for how they've handled things AFTER the fact, but that I couldn't change my renewal option months ago when I tried to is the frustrating part.

What I've done to avoid this (not that you can know this will be an issue) is once I renew with a 12-month or 3-month card, i then call MS on the phone and ask them to turn auto-renewal off. Since you can't turn the renewal off via the system or web site.

As far as changing Credit Cards to use, I have never had an issue doing that. But you do have to add the new one, before you remove the old one.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

So, my buddy lent me a couple games for a while, since he is pretty much done playing them. Any thoughts on the following?

Killzone 2
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

FTR: I tried playing one of the SOCOM games years ago, got frustrated. But, I do want to try again and learn the 890276893276 button games.

Uncharted is good. Part 2 is even better, and part 3 comes out in the next week or two.

What's the frustration level, for a pretty-much rookie? I don't care if I die or whatever, just looking to learn to actually play this style of games. I am of the one- to 5-button gamer. Madden is probably the most button-intense game I've ever played.

They have noob difficulty levels that you can set it to. So you should be fine.

As you up the difficulty you won't be able to run-n-gun or stand and trade shots in the open with an enemy. You will have to use cover and things like that.

Uncharted reminds me of Tomb Raider games, except with more enemies.

Having never played Tomb Raider, but knowing a little bit about it, I'll take your word for it. ;)

But having seen these new shooter games, and there seems to be more thinking than button mashing, I have become interested in expanding my horizons.

Got LEDs 95 percent in. Just missing a couple bulbs that were soldered and stapled down that I still have to figure out how I want to remove.

Its not bad, and if you like it, I can loan you uncharted 2. I keep forgetting to bring you games to borrow, but as I mentioned before, I have plenty.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Played Battlefield 3 for the first time over the weekend. Highly suggest it!
