A great night for Laker hockey for both the mens and ladies advance in their touneys. A very evenly matched game between the Lakers and Cards plus on of the lowest scoring games I can remember. The last few minutes gave me a few more grey hairs. A very tough game next week. Lets hope the injury bug has left the house for the year and everyone heals up for Saturday.

This Saturday an Oswego State ice hockey team will travel to Plattsburgh for the third consecutive weekend....3rd time the charm, Ladies? Underdogs with a big bark and bigger bite. EDIT: Lakers play Elmira in Platty in the semi - would face Platty in the final if both advance.... I just meant it would be deja vu for another Laker team in Platty next week...

What a hoot it would be if the Lady Lakers did in the Lady Cards. I think the hockey world would stop for a moment. Another possible great Laker/Card game in the making. Maybe Linda Cohen will show up for some moral support.

I think Oswego will need to get by Elmira first. They looked decent today but they really lack some finishers that would give them a better chance against the Plattsburgh's and Elmira's of the world.
As for the men six straight one goal games for them and they are 4-2 in that span. They are certainly battle tested at this point. I pretty much felt that type of game would be what we would see all year but for a while they were able to blow a few teams out. Now that they have gotten back to their style they are looking pretty good. They outplayed Genny for stretches in both games but came up short, maybe the third time will be the charm.

I'm looking at the standings and trying to guess as to what Platty's chances are of getting a bid. Between Adrian taking a bid and likely either Babson/Norwich taking one, that leaves 2 leftover. If Oswego wins the SUNYAC, Genny might get the bid over Platty, and Wisc-SP will likely snap up another. If Trinity fails to win their tourney, then there may not be any bids at all going to the SUNYAC, just the AQ.
For Oswego, it's all about just keep winning. There is no bid. There is no safety net. Just keep winning. And keep hoping that Z pulls in some phenomenal games like he has been.
Can someone who was at the game tonight give a good synopsis? Was this a case of Platty being careless and failing to follow up on their opportunities? Or was Z literally just being a god on skates?

UWSP will get a pool B bid, not a pool C

Which is one less bud available for Plattsburgh, correct? So 11 spots, 7 AQs, 4 at-large bids. 1 pool B goes to UWSP. Pool C goes to Adrian and the loser of the Norwich/Babson game. That leaves one Pool C bid left. If Trinity loses they get it. If Trin wins but Genny loses then Genny gets it. Plattsburgh needs both Genny and Trin to win to have a chance. But then they'll still be competing against teams like Utica or UWEC that have solid records and could still win their conference championship. Platty may be behind them in line for a Pool C as well if they win their championships.

toto from what I watch on line both teams missed golden chances. On Oswego 2nd goal it was just a hustle goal where Timpano just outworked the Cardinal players and a bad one that Cadeaux let in. The game was a very fast paced game and one of the lowest scoring Laker/Card games that I can remember. What really helped Z and this was mentioned by the announcer was the lack of second chances for the Cards. Either team could have walked away with the W it was that equal.

As for the other guys - let's hope they make it as the more SUNYAC teams that are in, the better it is for the conference IMHO...but otherwise...

Although knowing the NCAA, I wouldn't put it past them to have us play at Plattsburgh for the first round of games.
Perhaps I'm looking too far ahead. Let's win at Genny first and then I'll worry about whether we are going to face Platty again in the NCAA's.
What's the video situation at Genny? Not top-quality if I remember correctly.

Man what a win,didnt get to watch the whole game,the wife had company over so got glances here and there.it looked very fast and a ton of hitting.A few sick scrambles at the end and wow what a finish. A platty poster said the refs were no good??? i have no idea about that??? No Adams?? and no Neil or Wills, hey what the hell they plug guys in and did the right thing.....Congrats so far, and yes third time may be the charm for us, it will be a wild crowd at the Ira come sat night,but lets hope we contniue with disciplined hockey,as it looks we only took 3 pens last night.
