Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Lime A Ritas are excellent. Don't judge me.

We went through 3 12 packs and 3 24 oz. tall boys last night.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

I have been shotgunning things tonight so, yeah I'm not sure why I posted here. Carry on.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Any gin drinkers out there? I'm pretty much a confirmed Tanquery guy (T&T and make it tall), but would be willing to "juniper branch" out to explore some others. I tried Cold River, distilled in Freeport ME, but found it too mild for my taste.
Suggestions?

I'm in the same place. I have some Bombay Sapphire, but I prefer the bite of Tanquery in my G&T. I save the Bombay for friends who like martinis.

I always suggest Hendricks', but it sounds like you are a big fan of pine needles. Can't fault you there, Beefeater is my go-to when I'm in a G&T mood.

Hendricks' has a solid juniper backbone, but it's milder than Tanq/Beefeater and there's a distinct cucumber smell/taste as well. Makes for a unique experience, and I find it very refreshing on hot days when I'm not interested in anything super powerful.

Picked up a 90 Schilling from Odell Brewing Co in Fort Collins, if you can ever get your hands on it, its good

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Sooooooooo shotgunning beers was more fun in college, and I don't remember it being that fun then.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

I've been reading this all day so I'm having gin and tonics tonight. Sapphire is my gin.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Thanks for the gin suggestions. I'll have to stop at nirvana (otherwise known as the New Hampshire State Liquor Store in Hampton) to do some shopping. Gotta love a state where the liquor stores have their own off ramps from Route 95.

Me too. For me Beefeater is the perfect meeting point between quality and price.

I want to try Junipero gin. It's made by the same people who make Anchor Steam beer. Supposed to be gin on juniper steroids. Hard to find, tho', so I'm still looking.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Speak of the devil, it's a Beefeater G&T tonight. :) With a lime wedge squeezed in there as well.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Continuing the gin thread:

Tonight we got ourselves a Pegu Club cocktail. (Named for the Pegu Club, where colonial Brits would hang out when they weren't running Burma. You probably needed a lot of gin to handle a sub-tropical, pre-air-conditioning world, all while wearing your British khaki uniforms.) It's basically a margarita: 3 parts hard alcohol (gin), 2 parts orange liquer, 1 part lime juice. But they kick it up by adding a couple of shakes of bitters, and a couple of shakes of orange bitters. A fine way to survive a hot, humid summer day.

I'm having a manhattan this evening. I'm using Knob Creek, which is pretty darn good on its own.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Had a Lime-a-rita with my Chipotle tonight (seemed only right), and now am sipping on some Laphroaig 10.
