Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

I wonder if those extra little perks will be enough to retain premium seat holders ... for a pretty large price difference between a premium seat and a regular season ticket... espically given that (In my opinion) the view from the seats for quite a few rows in front of the premium seat location is better.

I disagree. My seats are in the last row and they're great. I love not having anyone behind me. Premium seat holders get dinner in the club room, not just drinks. You also get access before, during and after games. You get parking passes for the garage and use of the elevator that goes directly to the arena. You also get priority seating for Beanpot and playoff tickets. And you get first right of refusal for tickets to any event in the arena. That's something that I like. The "five year" commitment ends after the 2009-2010 season, with the extra half year given to us.

Question to those that received their tickets - how did they come - US mail or UPS?

Glad you enjoyed it! It was a lot of fun (most of the time) fitting it all together.

Again, if anyone is convinced by Scarlet and now wants one ;) , please send an email to BUhighlights@gmail.com

I will join Scarlet in endorsing this product. Very awesome indeed. Just another way to remember forever the greatness that was last season.

Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

If people are willing to video tape and take pictures at the banner ceremony it would be much appreciated.

:)

I am hoping BU Athletics puts out a production quality video. Especially since some people will miss it considering the date change.

Us mail

The giving of seats to premium holders was bs too. The loyalty point system was set up to distribute playoff and beanpot tickets. Changing the rules in such a big way blows.

Mine came via UPS I believe (although I was not home when they arrived)..... but I think that was a UPS sticker on it.

I guess seating is definatley a matter of preference. I'm 2 rows in front of the first row of premium seats on the blue line... and I wish I had chosen seats a couple of rows lower. My folks are in row F (6 rows from the ice)... and IMO they have about the best seats in the house. Basically at center ice, low so the action seems very close, but just high enough up that basically no part of the view is obstructed by the boards and glass. (compared to the fleet center, which is not as steep, where 6 rows from the ice there is a lot of the playing area you can't see). For me I think the seats higher up than mine are too far away.

Also for me, I prefer getting a drink at Sunset or T's prior to the game (as opposed to the club room), I've never had an issue with beanpot or playoff tickets (except for when they have screwed up my priority points), and I think I've only found the parking garage sold out once.

I don't mean to be critical... but I do wonder, espically in this not-so-great economy, how many people that did buy premium seats are questioning what they are getting for that extra ammount of money.

No problem Brian. Forward me your tix and a credit card, and I will watch the game and have a few drinks on you to honor the banner raising.

I'm sure there are several that are questioning it, and in this economy, it's understandable. I'm sure the Sox, Pats, Bruins and Celtics are experiencing similar concerns. I am waiting to see what changes will be made when it comes time to renew, etc. or rather if it will cost more and if so, how much. I enjoy going to dinner in the club room before games. I enjoy the parking and I enjoy getting tickets to events before the general public. I love my seat location and the fact that, as an initial Premium Seat Holder, my name is on my seats. I like the attention I get. It's all a matter of perceived value. I know others don't think there is enough to warrant it, and you're going to get that with any program like this.

I just picked up my tickets at the arena - mine hadn't been mailed. They look cool. The parking passes are tiny this year. They used to be in a booklet with a die cut so you could affix to your rearview mirror. Now they look like regular game tickets. The tickets themselves are smaller in size as well. But they're really nice.

Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

Were we supposed to get some sort of trinket or something for ordering our season tickets early?

Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

i know that this topic has been sufficiently beaten to death, but i just heard that the banner raising was not moved because it was more convenient for players families or anything like that. i heard that parker, being the superstitious guy that he is, just wont allow it to happen on October 20. apparently the significance of the date was realized after they had announced the banner raising for October 20.

Parker is a very superstitious guy, and in this case I definitely don't blame him. :(

However, Notre Dame's schedule is clear on Oct. 21st if we want to reschedule. ;)

I had also heard rumors that this had something to do with it, but it was never given as a reason by anyone. Neither was players' families.

Which in reality makes these more likely to be the reason reasons.

Yeah, I'm not really sure how you would say that in an official BU athletic department press release.

Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

- Highlight DVD is phenomenal - nice job 'canes. I love the print on the jacket, and nice job using the Lightscribe DVD's. I love the photo of the GWG on it.

- I like Scarlet's seat too!:D Good for a 6'3" guy that likes to stand up every now and then (nobody behind).

- I can't see Parker moving the date for superstition. Players families I can understand.

i'm the opposite. i'm more likely to believe he'd move it for superstition than families, but thats just me. i heard this from someone close to the team.

Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

I think that of all the things that have happened during Parker's association with BU Hockey, it's fair to say that Travis Roy has affected him the most. Unless Parker gets a new pair of shoes this year, I can certainly see him moving the date because of Roy.

Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

This makes sense, and I agree Travis has affected him more than anything during his time at BU (don't forget that also happened against a team named ND) so I'll accept that as the reasoning, though I still don't understand why they wouldn't raise it at the first exhibition game since that'd be the first time they take the ice and the difference between exhibition games is inconsequential.
