Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!
Would you sign-up to give $ to an organization that called you by the wrong name? Perhaps if you are a return customer, but if they are trying to reach out to new members... I think I letter of apology could turn a negative into a postive and may even result in more donations. (Look at that. BU Hockey cares about me so much, they sent a second letter. Gosh darn it, I think I will donate afterall.) And I'm sure the huge bump in ticket sales they just created by moving the banner raising to an exhibition game will take care of the cost. Wait a minute, could that be why...![Smile :) :)](https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f642.png)
BU Hockey: You Can Call Me Al
It sounds like the mail merge file simply got sorted w/o the salutation field selected. Not good, but not as bad as putting the wrong letter into an envelope. No real personal information was given out to people.
I have no problem with FOH wasting their money instead of using it on BU's hockey program, but do you really want them to waste money on a second mailing (postage/stationery) just to fix a salutation? You must be a mighty sensitive person to need an apology. (Note - if FOH has a newsletter or some other mailer regularly scheduled to go out, an acknowledgement of the error would be appropriate.)
