Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

It sounds like the mail merge file simply got sorted w/o the salutation field selected. Not good, but not as bad as putting the wrong letter into an envelope. No real personal information was given out to people.

I have no problem with FOH wasting their money instead of using it on BU's hockey program :-), but do you really want them to waste money on a second mailing (postage/stationery) just to fix a salutation? You must be a mighty sensitive person to need an apology. (Note - if FOH has a newsletter or some other mailer regularly scheduled to go out, an acknowledgement of the error would be appropriate.)

Would you sign-up to give $ to an organization that called you by the wrong name? Perhaps if you are a return customer, but if they are trying to reach out to new members... I think I letter of apology could turn a negative into a postive and may even result in more donations. (Look at that. BU Hockey cares about me so much, they sent a second letter. Gosh darn it, I think I will donate afterall.) And I'm sure the huge bump in ticket sales they just created by moving the banner raising to an exhibition game will take care of the cost. Wait a minute, could that be why... :)

Does anybody know...

Have I just not been getting SportsPass pick up date emails, or have none been announced yet?

You know, it's a good day when your season tickets arrive and they all say "2009 National Champions" on them.

:D

they have n.o.t.h.i.n.g.!

it is a "give us your money and give it fast, or else it won't count towards beanpot seats" grab for money letter. then that's it.

it's pretty stupidly run. of course one of us in now on the board, which is a tight group that does what they want (ie, what Jack wants).

and truthfully, that is what it is supposed to do -- but maybe give us donors the feeling that they appreciate the money.

otherwise, if they want to do everything themselves that should include collecting the funds amongst themselves as well.

at least MSH was pleasant and gracious when she would see you.:(

this wasn't a new member letter. it appeared that it was all current members (with terrier pt codes w/names on the FOH form). they usually send a mass mailing out later-that i get as well  .

nobody did anything with my new member drive idea :(

ahem.

i just looked at mine.... i can't believe that uvm has attained 'extra $2' status along with the igles, uhn, and maine

Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

I think I'd be more upset/confused about Maine still being an extra $2.

Maine will never not be Maine, no matter how bad the team may be. As long as it says Maine on that jersey.... You have no idea how heartbroken I was when we lost that HE qf game to them this past year.

On another note, I didn't get my tickets today? Oh man...

Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

I'm not a FoH member and I got the letter. Honestly, I've long been on the fence about FoH and have sort of been waiting for someone to either directly or inadvertently convince me to pony up.

The mistake on the letter is no big deal, imo. The discrepancy between Scarlet and Terrier level benefits could be a bit more of an issue if someone is expecting a book and doesn't get one.

But like Bomber wrote, for those who may be considering FoH for a donation, small things can easily tilt the decision in the wrong direction.

Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

if you are an advantage club member, you can be now ordering seats for the two exhibition games..... (i hear something is going on for the 2nd...)

Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

were renewals for premium seats this year???

LOTS of empty rows in the 'artist formerly known as premium seats' right now..

those are now disguised as 'scarlet seats' are available.... 15 in a row in section 103 (center ice) and to the sides of it for michigan. all yours for only $99.50/seat.

Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

Obviously who ever was in charge of the Friends of Hockey mailing completely effed it up. It's easy to screw up a match-mailing, but that is why you ALWAYS check letters to envelopes before sending. They really should re-do the entire mailing and apologize for the error.

BU Hockey: Good at Hockey, Bad at Mail

Earlier in this thread I referenced a similar mailing that had also been screwed up. For that one they did send out a re-do with an apology... I would not be surprised to see that happen for this one either.

I thought preimium seats were a 5 year comitment? No way this is the 6th year of agganis?!?!?

I believe it will be the 5th and a half year, so assuming they treated 04-05 as a full year I'm pretty this year will actually be the 6th.

I wonder how many people gave up on "premium seats" for just regular season tickets?

What do you actually get for paying the premium seat price anyway? Parking and the ability to go into that little bar area before the game? I actually think that as far as seat location goes, the view from my seats is better than any of the premium seat areas.... a few rows closer to the ice, so closer to the action, but still up high enough that nothing is obstructed by the glass, and with how steep the seating is, you could even go a couple of more rows closer still without any obstructions.

I would guess (especially in this economy) that there will be a lot of premium seats being given up.

the 'premium seats' are (were) 102-103-104 starting at row K and higher on the ends, row J in the middle. same then on the home side. they started as location.

you got 'first dibs on beanpot tickets', among other things like club room, parking, elevator, etc.

Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

Given that I just got back from vacation and have not had a chance to follow up with the folks that managed the FOH mailing, I am not going to comment on any of the posts here. Once I get a handle on things, I'll respond. I will say that when I opened my mailing this morning, mine was correct.

In addition to my FOH mailing, I also got my season highlight DVD from cc99. I cannot recommend this enough. cc99 - outstanding job! I've been joking that my ridiculously bad gambling experience last month in Vegas and now my severe lack of celebrity interaction at the Emmy Awards on Sunday was God looking down on me and saying "Scarlet, I gave you BU winning the title this year. That's all you get." :) And after watching that DVD, I am TOTALLY OK with that! I just got chills and was anxious and nervous and excited all over again. Thank you for putting this together!!

I wonder if those extra little perks will be enough to retain premium seat holders ... for a pretty large price difference between a premium seat and a regular season ticket... espically given that (In my opinion) the view from the seats for quite a few rows in front of the premium seat location is better.

Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

If people are willing to video tape and take pictures at the banner ceremony it would be much appreciated.

:)

Glad you enjoyed it! It was a lot of fun (most of the time) fitting it all together.

Again, if anyone is convinced by Scarlet and now wants one ;) , please send an email to BUhighlights@gmail.com
