Official 2011 Miami Offseason Thread: Hawkheads face left and no scalping allowed!

Re: Official 2011 Miami Offseason Thread: Hawkheads face left and no scalping allowed

That's what I'm saying. 17 is already on the wall! You don't actually retire the number in college but "retire the jersey." Savage's jersey has been retired. A long time ago. He wore 17.

I stand corrected...

Nice win for Duluth tonight, always nice to see a program get their first title.

Looks like Camper just got his first goal as a pro already...... Against Zatkoff :D

Congrats to Miami and Andy Miele

Looking forward to the NHL playoffs starting this weekend. Washington v. NYR is just one of 4 very interesting matchups in the East. Not a pairing I am comfrtable with. But, with the Caps' newly found defensive focus, we could be okay.

Re: Official 2011 Miami Offseason Thread: Hawkheads face left and no scalping allowed

Looks like Biggs took a bit of a nose dive in the final NA skater numbers, #5 down to #22, Murphy jumped into the top 30 at #25 after finally getting healthy, with Kurlay, Czarnik and Coleman also in the top 200.

Beyond excited to see what some these guys can do next season.

Also, for those outside the twitterverse, from Trent:

Met with Dr. Andrews today. Never want to u hear u need surgery but if u do this guys the best. He's got smoother hands than @andy_miele

Not nearly as confident heading into the playoffs as I though I would be after the first 3 months of the season, but let's go wings!

Jay Williams also #12 among NA goaltenders. I'm not sure if McKay is draft eligible, but if he is, I'm surprised he is not among goalies also. I'd also be surprised if Coleman does not go higher than his NA ranking (although that may be about right with Europeans thrown in). We'll see.

Was just going to post about the final rankings. Not surprising about Biggs at all. He has taken a different type of role this year with the USNTDP. If you look at his play/numbers he is relied on more for energy. They got plenty of guys that can score but he is trying to be a leader. His PIM's are up and I think the scouts are a little worried about it. He will still most likely go in the first round and would expect his offensive numbers to go up in college because there is no fighting. Might keep him here another year longer than originally thought because their is some doubt.

As for Coleman, this surprises me. I know he is older but its tough to grasp the runaway leading scorer in the USHL be ranked so low. But we will take 4 years from him! Good representation for Miami recruits on there. Also good to see Murphy jump up looks like he has put the injury behind him which is good news for Miami...Still dont expect to see him until 2012.

Sounds like connor Murphy is having a hell of a U18 tourney. Great news after the injury scare and not much playing time for awhile because of it.

Yeah, this is the best news I've heard about him in some time. Stock is skyrocketing right now.

Coaches are surprised by how well he has come out of the gate. Still would like to see him perform over the longevity of a season. Hopefully he has a great one next year and can get to Miami healthy in 2012. Concern may be that he gets a mid level first round draft pick has a great year in juniors or just signs right away and never gets to Miami.

NHL.com has some great short videos on college hockey experiences (sponsored by the US Army). Not any Miami guys, but hopefully they help get some more people interested in the college game.

BIGGS with the OT winner in the semis vs Canada this afternoon.

Picked up the puck on the halfboards, flew down the ice, and had a great far post snipe

It was a heckuva shot - not much there to shoot at.

Hey fangers. Add to that Blake Coleman with 92 regular season points in the USHL and Czarnik and little Wideman and the rookies should be interesting next year. Hope they all arrive and are healthy.
