Official 2011-2012 Miami Season Thread Part II: (OH) Yeah!

Re: Official 2011-2012 Miami Season Thread Part II: (OH) Yeah!

We got the second half off to a good start last weekend. Let's get the second thread off to an equally good start. Avenge!

Re: Official 2011-2012 Miami Season Thread Part II: (OH) Yeah!

Best way to summarize the first half of season

Re: Official 2011-2012 Miami Season Thread Part II: (OH) Yeah!

To get 08 jacked up:

The tribes go forth to war,
Their scalp songs ring afar;
Bright the blood-red camp fires gleaming,
Mad with thrist the war-hawks screaming,
Signal smoke soars high,
Beckons in the sky,
Old men shake their calabashes,
Warriors dance amid the ashes,
Maides sobbing, war-drums throbbing, WAR!

Sweet the vict'ry and the conquest,
Calm the rest among the slain;
Sons of centuries of heroes,
Seek the fruit, despise the pain.
Watch Miami, now,
See the foeman bow,
Far and wide their host is scattered,
Spears are broken, shields are battered;
Miami! Yuh! Yuh! Yuh! Yuh!
Miami! Yuh! Yuh! Yuh! Yuh!
Race them, chase them, pound them, Wow!

Yuh! Yuh! Yuh! :D

Two things of note. Warhawks would have beencooler than redhawks. And holy crap those lyrics are awesome. Play the chief song! War dance!

Worst case we'll be in 4th at the end of the night. Miami really took that game over from the 2nd period on. Finally protected a one goal lead!

Whoop whooop.

And I think Connor was trying for the empty net goal at the end there, almost gave me a heart attack when he dropped to a knee to shoot it while still in the crease and bobbled the puck a bit..

Tie for 8 in the pwr. Still lots of games left but that looks a lot better than 22nd recently.

Whoooooop

For anyone not on MHT...

Yes, please?

Outdoor hockey has officially jumped the shark, but it would be amazing to get this kind of recognition. I would have put the chances of us being in a conversation for one of these games at zero after we weren't even considered (publicly at least) as a lead in game for the FROZEN DIAMOND FACEOFF (!).

Re: Official 2011-2012 Miami Season Thread Part II: (OH) Yeah!

Before yesterday's game, Rico told DDN beat writer Pete Conrad that he still was not committed to either goaltender. Same "whoever looks good in practice" line, but added, "Friday’s game will determine who plays Saturday." That's new as far as I know -- at least for the record. Presumably, we see Connor again tonight.

Re: Official 2011-2012 Miami Season Thread Part II: (OH) Yeah!

Ok, I have to post something basketball related because MHT is such a disaster these days on all fronts.

The basketball dorks are posting stuff like strength of schedule threads and RPI and making the NCAA tournament. We're 4-10 for crying out loud! And, all the threads about "getting off the ledge and talking X team." It's insanity and it's insane and I ask the question, "why?"

Rant over.

Re: Official 2011-2012 Miami Season Thread Part II: (OH) Yeah!

I'm still trying to figure out what the Bortz obsession is all about. :confused:

At some point they will accept it is no longer 1997 and Miami is utterly irrelevant. Tracking RPI and formulating page long statistical arguments to support Charlie Coles is just sad, the fact that its come to that is probably all the evidence you need that he should have been fired years ago. It may take another 20 or 30 years for that to sink in though.

Wings/Leafs and Miami both playing outdoors in a 6 week stretch may cause my head to explode. I would welcome it however.

Yeah but apparently if basketball had a new 1500 seat venue
then we would be the best mid major everrrrrr.
