Official 2010-2011 Miami season Thread: 3rd times a charm???

Re: Official 2010-2011 Miami season Thread: 3rd times a charm???

Here's an interesting read from North Dakota's beat writer for the Grand Forks Herald about possibly combining conferences in light of all the BTHC speculation. While I don't know if this is the solution, it's good to know guys like Jeff Jackson are out in front of this and that discussions are being held. I'm sure he and Rico will chat plenty this weekend.

That'd be pretty awesome. I like the idea there of just playing one series with each team in your division and then playing the remaining teams, once every two years. There would definitely be some work to be done with logistics and trying to make the divisions equal in terms of difficulty, but that idea has some promise.

It wouldn't be done in terms of difficulty. This is a way to save the CCHA and is being pushed by CCHA schools. Jeff Jackson is the main source behind it because he doesn't want his former team in Lake St. to fold which is a very good possibility when a bthc alone forms.

Divisions would be primarily based on travel. The UP schools would be grouped together. Denver, CC, UNO, UND, and the two alaska's would be one division with the big ten schools the other. Splitting the other 12 teams would be somewhat difficult, but this is the last ditch effort to save programs from folding.

Definitely an idea fans could get behind, going to take a lot of concessions across the board to make it happen, but sounds as good as anything I've heard as a possible alternative to the formation of the evil empire (Lions and tigers and BTHC oh my).

On another note should be an early full house tonight at the Goggin. For the most part the student section crowds have been fantastic all year so hopefully its crazy in there come puck drop. Lines are around 2 pm size at 9 am, only time I will get up at 7 am on a Friday all year so here's to a great game tonight :).

Go Hawks, Love & Honor!!

That sure makes him look nice.... But I think he is behind it because he is at Notre Dame and they are not in the BT.... I don't think he has done Guelph any favors lately

There is a mini "tent city" so that's a good sign!

Re: Official 2010-2011 Miami season Thread: 3rd times a charm???

I prefeace this by saying, I haven't slept in a few days and this might all be speculation. That being said.... :)

Ok, so question to those on here who have a good understanding of the internal workings of the Miami athletic department. This is just based off something I overheard in line but I'm pretty sure tonight at the Goggin is one of the fraternity nights where all the guys in the frat get to roll up 10 minutes before we are let in and take whatever seat they want.

Ok. So I've always thought it was annoying when they did this for LSSU or BG, but its a nothing game so whatever.

If this is actually true can someone explain to me who would make the decision to essentially say **** you to Miami's only dedicated student sports fan base on the second biggest home series of the year?

I mean ok, I'm diehard, did I need to get in line at 8am this morning? No. Did people need to camp out last night? No. But what the hell, we support this team week in and week out, pay $15 on away weekends to watch the games and drive 50 hours a year to watch them on the road. Can someone explain to me why the bro in a pink oxford (as much as I love pink oxfords its a **** hockey game come on) sitting in my seat that doesn't know a single cheer let alone a player on Miami is more deserving then me or any of the other students that I have been sitting next to for the last 7 hours, and who is the bonehead in the athletic department that (hypothetically) sanctions these things?

Hey might not be the case at all. Maybe I should give those in charge the benefit of the doubt here, but if it is...grrrrrr

Apologies to anyone on here who was/is part of the greek system, I'm sure you are a lovely person.

Phew. /end rant. Hat trick for VAIVE tonight and I will be happy. I'm usually not an angry person, clearly this is what general student admission has done to me. Season tickets for all!

I was Greek, but not any offense taken. We were more "think for ourselfers". That is odd that it would happen for such a big series, but just teach the bros the scalp song and make the tradition stay.

If they seemed remotely interested in the game that could maybe be a possibility lol. But it's mostly about the people who make the decisions regarding such things if its actually true. It's pretty obvious that it is usually most of these guys first (and last) time at a miami hockey game so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that they probably don't understand people really do wait 5+hours for these things every week to get "their" seats. I know it sounds petty but I'm sure anyone who has been a student here understands the diehard seat dynamic of goggin sections lol.

628. I'll see if I can find out something about this and get back if I do. I'd be very annoyed too.

I took a nap in line and feel much better now :-) deciding to be optimistic and just assume there is no way this happens, should keep me happy for the next hour or so!

Something me and Wally yelled quite often in fort Wayne.

PLAY THE CHIEF SONG!

They are going to hold a "student vote" for what the new penalty song is going to be...I mean really, what are we going to do pick something off Billboard Top 100 to play when someone goes to the penalty box. This is going to be awful.

Weren't you guys the ones who had the "confessional" sign by the penalty box last year? That was good. And kudos to the fan who had the "Leave the gun, take the Cannone" sign. Classic.

Re: Official 2010-2011 Miami season Thread: 3rd times a charm???

Hey. Remember that time we had a third period breakdown? Lots of un forced turnovErs tonight. Sloppy with the puck and I haven't seen our players lose an edge like that without any contact since the 5 0 BC game. Congrats to nd. Two very talented teams who should be there in March. But if not for stupid play behind our own goal line, this game also falls in the shouldn't have lost category.

Think the chief spirits are ****ed. No energy in the building tonight. And not only was the song canned but they turned the spotlight off on the redskin plaque too.

Re: Official 2010-2011 Miami season Thread: 3rd times a charm???

But hey the football team doesn't suck anymore. Thanks Shane Montgomery.
