Official 2010-2011 Miami season Thread: 3rd times a charm???

Re: Official 2010-2011 Miami season Thread: 3rd times a charm???

Regarding Connor Murphy, I agree RHM. And, I meant to say that I'd suspect we'll get him next year. Heck, Vogelhuber was injured a ton before getting into our strength and conditioning system. That's something that you can't say enough about. Our training/S&C folks are tremendous.

Are you shocked now? Ha who woulda thought will would be back just three weeks later. Got some rust on him but that's expected.

I wouldn't think the injury would hinder him coming in. If you remember Merceir was injured often with the USNTDP. We will have atleast 2 openings at D if not 3 next year so we need him to come in next season.

This is a big weekend, need to see how this team reacts to a poor showing. That leadership the NHL.com article talked about will need to be on full display this weekend.

Well would have to think they have inside information. I have been out of town all week and haven't heard much, but boy I would be absolutely shocked if he was back on the ice before December. He has been skating but that would be remarkable to see him playing again this soon.

Great reception for him during the starting lineup announcements tonight, and handed Carter the first goal with that dish. Great to see him back on the ice, never would have expected to see him before ND.

Re: Official 2010-2011 Miami season Thread: 3rd times a charm???

Good shutout tonight. D had some key lapses at times, giving up some huge breaks, but Cody stood tall and had some pretty good support cleaning out the garbage in front of the net tonight.

Off topic but how about UNO. Undefeated in the WCHA and their only loss so far at Yost. I bet they wish they had some starts like that when they were still in the CCHA.

Thats the series I figured he'd be back for also. He got more comfortable as the game went on and started laying the body out there.

What happened with Matt T? what happened on the 10 minute cross check?

I happened out of my line of sight, but one of the Alaska posters in the score thread said that it did not deserve a major, so take that for what it's worth.

Re: Official 2010-2011 Miami season Thread: 3rd times a charm???

From what I could tell just looked like he was finishing a check in front of the Miami bench and caught him in the head with his stick. When the UAF player went down after the hit his helmet came off. Figured it was just gonna be a 2 minute contact to head, but gotta say they did pretty well defending a major with Alaska in all out attack. Can't think of that many shots that actually got through to Cody in that frenzy.

Re: Official 2010-2011 Miami season Thread: 3rd times a charm???

Good to see our favorite son from up here in Gaylord, MI back on the ice for the Redhawks (and making an immediate contribution, even better!). We up here in the woods will be keeping a close eye on what looks to be an exceptionally competitive CCHA this year. Kalamazoo is no longer a walkover series, thanks to the smart WMU pickup of Blashill as coach. It appears trips to BG might be more challenging than of late, too. The winner of the gauntlet (and maybe a couple of at-large selections at the top of the heap) should be well tested for the trek to St. Paul.

Re: Official 2010-2011 Miami season Thread: 3rd times a charm???

Saw an interesting stat that said we've now shutout Alaska in four of the last eight games we've played against them. That's domination.

Re: Official 2010-2011 Miami season Thread: 3rd times a charm???

Yeah, I've never had to depend on All-Access until moving to Colorado this summer. It's an expensive toy for it not to work 100% of the time.

All-Access is a CBS thing right? Too bad we probably have to use it, the 4 or 5 times I've bought games thru B2 or whatever it is they have seemed pretty reliable.

To build on this stat, Connor Knapp hasn't allowed a goal in his two career starts against Alaska. Hopefully Knapp can build off what Reichard did last night and post another shutout.

Yeah I haven't had any problems with B2 either. It's just getting reeediculous with the Miami All-Access. I'm pretty close to just cancelling my prescription (for my chronic disease of "notenoughmiamihockeyitis"). I'd almost rather pay another college for their vid feed.

Would be awesome without all these defensive breakdowns right now. 1-2-2 in the last five games and only 6 out of 15 points against lake Ferris and uaf in that stretch. Come on.

Re: Official 2010-2011 Miami season Thread: 3rd times a charm???

They seemed to fall asleep after the second goal. Yet another third period duldrum sets in. What gives?

I guess the good thing to come out of this is it seems that all the top teams are dropping games left and right. Michigan is on a 4-3-0-1 run. ND 2-2-1-0. BC 3-4-0. BU 3 straight ties. Good thing about this weekend was getting the powerplay clicking finally. 3 goals this weekend on the man advantage, only 8 before that in the other 10 games. Gonna be an interesting series up at BG. They played really well against ND and could have swept. Come onnnnn six points.....

Last two goals are on connor, very very poor rebound control. Cody has played better, I feel for connor with all he has gone through in the offseason but when do you stick with one guy?

Alaska is a top 15 team and Ferris is a solid team that plays us tough every time so outside of the tie against Lake and not getting atleast a split against Ferris it isn't awful. Now they should win 5 of their next 6 if their want to be an elite team this season.

Way to early to care what BU and BC are doing, don't get ahead of yourself. National rankings mean nothing at this point. Got to win the conference before we can go anywhere else.

Lack of focus and leadership. In the last 4 years Miami dominated teams in the third period but they had strong willed captains. To consistantly get out played and lose third periods is a very bad sign, lots of it falls on your team leaders. This team has let too many teams off the hook this year. Even in their wins they have lost the third period, it is a very scary trend that needs to be knipped in the butt. All 4 captains need to step up and make sure this team is focused, coaching staff can only do so much.

Re: Official 2010-2011 Miami season Thread: 3rd times a charm???

I could care less about national rankings right now, was just stating that our team isn't the only one with loads of talent that has had some trouble the past few weeks.
