It's been confirmed that at Monday night's Student Government Association meeting, Peter Roby said Bill Coen has signed an extension and Greg Cronin will have one completed in about a week.

About Power. Was on the team last year. I saw him play in a inter squad game and I was impressed. I was told that no scholarship was necessary because a parent is a professor at NU; not sure if this is accurate. After the practice game he just disappeared. I assume that the team needs another healthy D man just for practice. He can really skate; so what happened?
About Cronin's contract. Greg is holding out; Wants his own jet for recruiting!

We give him a zamboni to get to and from the rink every day. I really don't know what else he needs.

I got an email from Roby today saying "we have agreed to extend the contracts" so it's possible that both deals are already done. He won't share any additional information though.

If they give it to him, I want to fly it! I'd enjoy the recruiting trips out to British Columbia in the summer! Plus it would give the university a chance to hire another graduate! Market isn't so hot for pilots right now....

It's been confirmed that at Monday night's Student Government Association meeting, Peter Roby said Bill Coen has signed an extension and Greg Cronin will have one completed in about a week.

From what I heard, Roby was heckled about it at the meeting until he said the contracts had been extended, it didn't sound like he voluntarily offered the information. But I'm glad to see Coen getting an extension, basketball has gotten increasingly popular this year, we got mentions in the New York Times and a lot more students are going

On a different note, Beanpot tickets sold out for students a lot faster than this year, but from what I heard they only sold 950. I was under the impression they had more last year, any ideas why they are selling less?

..the audio is not the best. Will prob wait to read comments. In case we forget, NU has a pretty big (points needed!), home gm against Lowell tomorrow. Let's try take care of that business first.

Justin Daniels is NU’s best forward. He has the potential to be, with time, what former UNH’s JVR was, (without the attitude problems.) The next three years should be a lot of fun. Drew has also shown tremendous progress. He is much stronger and aggressive. Amazed at the great passes Jake Newton made last night.
Morra is a player. On the injury front ; Malley is practicing, but Muench is not and despite reports to the contrary, his return is questionable.

Great game to watch last night. Our Huskies WANTED this victory, and it was clear when we went on those stretches where you'd swear we were on the power play for minutes on end.

That said... O' DOGHOUSE, WHERE ART THOU??

If this had been another Tuesday night game against a last place team (last week) I maybe would have understood. But this was against a ranked team. A team we lost to in overtime after an unthinkable 3rd period comeback.

Obviously we're having a tough time this year. And I shouldn't be surprised seeing such an empty looking crowd. But I am. And it makes me a sad panda.

Back to the game though? FANTASTIC performance. We could have easily been up 4 or 5 to 1 if Hutton hadn't played one of the better games I've seen him play

Solid performance last night (including another good one by Rawlings). I try to avoid repeating myself, but Jesus Christ, Jake Newton is unbelievable. He just doesn't do anything poorly. That said, the defensemen that I came away the happiest about was...Mike Hewkin? He actually played like a scholarship hockey player tonight, which is a nice change of pace.

J. Daniels does look legit, hopefully he can continue to produce, it would be nice for someone to make up for the lost production that we would have received from Quailer.

Alright, let's go lose the Beanpot! Wooo!

The name Umass-Lowell isn't going to draw a crowd, no matter how good of a year they are having, joe husky isn't going to be following hockey east enough to know if teams like merrimack, lowell, umass are having a good year or not. bc bu unh draw the crowds.

There's also a definite drop-off from the beginning of the year. BU sold out in 3 hours, and Maine sold out after a day, but after the first night when we got destroyed by them the crowds got noticeably smaller. People have started to come out though, and Friday's game had a decent showing by the student body, even if a lot of them showed up at the last moment

The beginning of the year attendance (for students) can be attributed to by the following: Sophmore RA's who saw how awesome we were last year and who had a ton of fun at a raucous matthews arena told all of their residents that they would be foolish to miss a game, especially against bu. It turned into, "I have to go to this game or I'm not cool" kind of thing, plus it's a good way for freshman to bond, dudes anyway. The first game was insane, so they came back, saw us get spanked by maine, the fairweather fans bounced and now we are where we are, the people who go to games like hockey and our team, generally speaking. I would expect a high student turnout against bc and bu, but everything in between should be about what it was for the lowell game friday.

Also the people who go to games need to be louder, when we can't get a solid chant going in the second period when we are leading, it's rather frustrating. Meh, it is what it is, a consistent period of winning plus a beanpot will equal great attendance, if you win, they will come, last year hooked a lot of fans, myself included, but if you want to build a sports culture like that of an ohio state or michigan, you need consistent winning, bottom line.

You just summed up a calendar year's worth of attendance trends at Matthews Arena in one paragraph. Well done, sir.
