Re: Official 2009-2010 Northeastern University Huskies Season Thread - Life Post Thie

For the past two years I've been sitting in the corner, right next to the ice where the opposing team enters/exits.

It definitely isn't the same as being in the DogHouse, but it's the BEST view in my opinion. I decided last night that I'm going to find a new home from now on. Still love the action, and the view, but now it's also where a ton of "frat boys" Luke to get drunk and sort of watch hockey. Really tired of it. Maybe I'll try the other side and get a better shot at cheering our own team on anyways.

Who knows, I may end up back in the DogHouse after all.

What a great way to rebound last night! Lived seeing the team and the lines click. Loved the energy (Cronin must have given them some hell!)

Maybe Rawlings needs Mountain to come out once in a while to keep him on his toes!

Great showing last night... Now let's get back some points and tally up 4 this weekend!?

I think you'll find that through out the student section with the exception of the first couple rows where kids get to the game 2+ hours early. I guess that is one downfall of having success, it brings in a whole compliment of greek life. My favorite thing about going to away games is the core group of solid hockey fans who are not just there because they're not old enough to go drink at a bar.

Anyone else think that the audio still not clear from the videoboard announcements (ie: the sports updates, women's hockey speeches, basketball/men's hockey films etc.. like when they talk on the screen.. i can't make a thing out..).

Also, only because i know the team & names, can i make out the PA announcer. He is good, but the audio.. even there.. there's still quality issues that can be corrected. The PA i can live with.. but the video 'audio' is just bad. Can someone work on this pls... i mean if we are going to get advertisers.. we need good audio for their commericals. Is it my hearing..am i getting old? (very possible) :)

The event really ****ed me off:

On Maine's breakaway goal (getting the puck as he jumped out of the penalty box) some of the frat kids started just screaming and yelling at Rawlings for "sucking" and "doing nothing"

...really? show some f*ing support or sit with the Maine crowd.

Agreed about the PA. Not to mention that (though my eyes aren't perfect) I usually can't even make out the SOG counter on the screens. I know we needed small, but I was in awe of the Screens they had up in BC. Very cool. Sound is something that should easily be worked out if we get some audio engineers in there or even some upperclassmen from the music dept!

(clearly something is just not set up right... anyone notice the dance song last night coming through as though it were being played coming out of a cell phone speakerphone? All broken up, crackling... someone needs to fine tune the equipment in there)

Any predictions for Providence? They've had some very interesting results so far, so as much as we need a sweep, who knows at this point.

If the Friday night NU team shows up.. Providence sweeps. If last nights NU team shows up.. Huskies sweep. Sure we can split but...

..i'd like the Saturday team to show up both nights.
There.. that's my prediction :)

The acoustics of the arena limit the quality of the audio significantly, they did a lot to make it better and I'm just not sure how much better than can make it given the building's unique characteristics.

As far as providence, same as this weekend, I want 3 points. They have won some quality contests (beaten Notre Dame @ ND, beat Umass at Umass, NOT EASY) but they have also lost to UVM and just squeaked by Holy Cross. I think if we can get some players back this weekend (can we?) we could be in good shape, right now I feel just OK with this team now, I feel like I saw the best and the worst of this team this weekend, I don't know which will show up next weekend, I have reasons to be hopeful that we have turned a corner and I have reasons to be scared that we may be in for a long season. Time will tell.

Ok Thiessen'sBetter, my non-political chime... :)

I think far as our series versus the Friars.. let's just take it a gm at a time..

Friday's gm.. my opinion, our best chance..

1.) we play at home,
2.) Providence actually plays Brown this week on Tuesday (which is a big gm between those schools, so they are bound to be a bit more worn out).. NU has to take whatever advantage it can, from PCs 2 night rest. If we can't win Fri, i don't see how we do it at Schneider Arena.

3.) If we win Friday & wear PC down.. even though we play @ PC Saturday.. that'll be their 3rd gm in 5 days..we could steal a point+.

But again.. it all depends on Friday's gm. We cannot show up like we did against ME.. otherwise, Friar brooms await.

In the lower bowl of the arena, the sound from the PA is just fine. Those speakers are fixed to the balcony above, pointing directly down to the lower bowl seats.

When I was there for the BU game, I don't think they were on. Or maybe they weren't working. You could not hear the PA guy at all. Maybe it was just over in the visiting fans' area, but there was no sound coming out of any of those speakers.

She's right. There is no sound that seems to come out of those speakers..

Like i mentioned, i can (as a home fan), even live with the PA because i can make most of it out. I know its tougher on the visiting fans. But the immediate problem that must be addressed is the videboard 'audio' (as mentioned), is horrendous. For $10+mil.. we have to find a solution.

I understand the age of the arena but there must be some sound engineer out there.. who can make sure the mortals hear the king in the colosseum :)

I have this image of some Communications major on his/her first co-op sitting there trying to figure out the controls to the videoboard and sound system two minutes before game time. I know that's not accurate, but every time we have a glitch with the videoboard or I can't hear the PA guy I think about it.

"Ok...so the red button means we go to a replay feed...and the red button combined with the green button means....my dad's gonna kill me when he finds out this co-op is unpaid."

Unlike prev opponents, PC actually has a pretty good road record thus far.

Let's keep our heads cool, play disciplined hockey.
Go Huskies :)

Great win 4-1; only negative Verolyk did not play; groin pull against Maine.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Northeastern University Huskies Season Thread - Life Post Thie

Northeastern has lit the lamp five times in its last two outings on the man-advantage and has scored a powerplay marker in every contest this season except the Boston College tilt (Nov. 7).

Wait what? Haha way to go Cronin! We wouldn't have believed that last year...

Also:
It was the first time Northeastern outshot its opponent since the home opener against Bentley

I think it's all starting to click! come on let's play three solid games in a row....
