Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami Season Thread

Frozen Four 2 is a lot better than Frozen Four 1 thats for sure. I'm all but assuming the $40 session tickets will still be in the bleeders, that's a great price, but never been to Ford Field so I'm skeptical of the view still. Will probably just play the wait and see game and if we make it, order them from the school again.

I was thinking about ordering them now with the thought that I'd go regardless of our fate. I think this event is something worth going to every year. Of course, I could always sell them as it nears if I decide it's not worth it.

It is a fun event. The only reason I was thinking about waiting would be to get the Miami section again if we make it

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami Season Thread

I posted this on the Ford Field thread, but thought you all might enjoy seeing it. I like the new configuration. This should help improve sightlines immensely.

New seating chart has been officially announced for Ford Field.

Here's a link to the graphic.

I agree that makes much more sense, I would assume that they would use the tall risers on the open end of the arena. With this new seating you can theoretically use half the stadium for seating which is better than the original layout.

Now lets hope this team makes the run and gives us an opportunity to enjoy it in person. With it being in Detroit SHOULD Miami get there I would assume a very large following would be there.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami Season Thread

well since its a crappy day out I was looking around the junior sites and checked on the opening weekend of the USHL.

Berschbach came out flying getting 3 pts 2 goals and 1 assit in their 7-4 opening night win. Alex wideman played but didn't record a point and Max Cook did not dress.

Also noticed Cody Murphy has a new address and will be playing in tri-city this year instead of cedar rapids. Also didn't realize he is only 18, I thought he was older.

Gameday! Concentration at work will be difficult. Leaving Cowtown between 3 and 4 to have time for a few brews uptown. RHM (or anyone else), wanna meet before the game?

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami Season Thread

Done with classes and the realization that I will be at the Goggin in a few hours just feels great. Seeing the SCSU player bus pull into the Miami Inn just made it that much more exciting. Can't wait to watch some hockey. Let's go Hawks!

Would love to, but won't be in town. I won't reveal where I will be, well because I want to save face and ridicule from all of you. I will say this, I will be there in spirit and it was not my choice to be where I will. But '95 and redeagle will back me here to get what you want you have to give a little and if mama aint happy no ones happy!

Have fun tonight guys and lets hope its a great opening night!

4 hours until the puck drops. Hopefully we can start taking the sting away from that April game. Should be a good weekend, I'm going out on a limb and saying Camper is in the 100 point club by.... Western Michigan. I think Palmer gets it done the weekend before against Ferris.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami Season Thread

Got in the student line at around 12:30. Was about the fifth person there. All three student lines are growing at a rapid pace. Hockey season is among us. 2.5 hours until the students are let in...3.5 hours until puck drop! Go Hawks!

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami Season Thread

Very big win tonight, what a great job of resilance tonight with going down early giving up a late goal to tie it but still finding a way to win in overtime.

Nice to see the young freshman McKenzie get the first but its the veteran and leader offensively, Camper, that gets the game winner.

Would love to hear what it was like from those that were there. But with all the hype of this game it is sure nice to come away with a win.

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami Season Thread

Cloud controlled the first ten of the game and much of the first period. Once the puck dropped in the second Miami took over until the frenzy at the end of the game. Steffes lost his stick and cloud crashed the net to tie it. We had some errors as was expected on first game but Cody came up big when we needed him. Our team is faster and more physical if that is possible. Reilly and Hartman were laying some big hits. We had a lot of close chance goals too but didn't finish. Hartman was the bigger impact freshman over Hanowski scsu touted kid. He had one good play the rest of the time he loafed. No wonder he didn't win Mr Minnesota. Also Brandon smith still can't pass or catch a pass

Re: Official 2009-2010 Miami Season Thread

Good atmosphere at the rink last night and hoping for more of the same. Based on what Rico said at the luncheon I would expect to see Weber tonight which will really help down low and in getting the puck out of the zone. Obviously the tying goal late in the 3rd was a direct result of not being able to get a clear (hmm, there was this game in April in DC...this HAS to be a point of emphasis moving forward) and I think Will's size, wheels and great hands will be an asset.

I wasn't as high on Hartman's performance as others but he was certainly serviceable and more mobile than I expected. I like Spinnell's game and the edge he brings. He's not going to replace Roeder's thunder back there (who is) but overall, good start to the season.

A sweep would be gravy because I think SCSU can definitely play (not that I didn't think that). However, I could easily see a split. Will depend much upon which Connor Knapp shows up - assuming he plays. The first half of last season CK or the second half? I hope it's the first.

Unfortunately, I won't be there tonight...wedding to attend...sigh...but, it's supposed to be on ONN and that's what DVR's are for!

To me it seems with a late lead Miami tightens the grip on the sticks a little bit and panics some in their own end. A tell tale sign of being young on the back line. With more time and play patience will set in and that won't be as much of an issue.

I think you are right in the fact that we will see both Knapp and Weber tonight. I would expect a strong game from Knapp with him losing the job in april and Cody playing well last night he has to play well or he could find himself on the bench opening doors.

This is a great test for Miami early on as will next weekend but to start the season at a fast pace is the way to go. I like how the schedule is set up.

How about Miami being the only ranked CCHA team to win last night?? OSU gets swept by a mediocre ECAC team in quinnipiac. Michigan gets shut out by alaska, NMU loses to MTU, and Notre dame loses to UAH at home...rough opening night for the CCHA.
