Re: Obama XX: Maybe We'll Even Talk About Obama

Ah, yes, making crude remarks at the expense of a mentally disabled three year old. Very classy. Very classy indeed. I anticipate a tsunami of left wing criticism of this pornography, don't you?

**** it.

Words don't matter, why are you whining about this?

And as how instantly offensive and wrong that post is for using the word "retarded' it's about mocking Palin for using her child as a political prop. It's not like Palin hasn't become all momma bear enraged when other people[/url have mocked her.

The actual article.

If you read Wonkette for a couple days you'll see how lame this particular attempt at false outrage is. This is leaving aside the whole point that using your (own or grand-) child as a human shield and a political prop is what's genuinely disgusting, of course.

"She lied for our sins."

My only criticism of Wonkette is that the original woman, who was super nerd cute and who is a Celebrity Free Pass for both my wife and I, isn't doing it any more, so it's become stale.

(Though

will never be stale.)

Why is it everyone who disagrees with you is engaging in "false" behavior? Anyone who disagrees with you is both wrong AND a liar. Wrong, platitudinous and arrogant. You're the kind of person who sniffed the air making sure nobody said anything critical about Amy Carter, aren't you? Like the time her putz father announced to the world that he'd been consulting her on foreign affairs, and the world laughed.

You approve of calling this child "retarded" because you don't like his mother. Just admit it. When it comes to Sarah Palin, there are no rules, no behavior that's over the line. Remember when Al Gore said he wasn't going to run for president in '92 because "he had to help his (alcoholic) son recover from injuries he sustained in an automobile accident?" The fact that George H. W. Bush was at about 75% approval at the time was merely coincidental. I'm sure you were supportive of this obvious eye wash, because it's clear Gore wasn't using his kid as a "human shield."

Speaking of using your kids as "props," I assume you were critical of that photo op of the Clintons using Chelsea in just that way after daddy confessed to being a perjurer on national TV. Right?

Yes, absolutely. And far more offensive than all the garbage Caribou Barbie does was to me the way Edwards used the death of his child. THAT was a ticket straight to Nixonian Manipulation hell.

It doesn't matter who does it -- as a parent it makes me want to slap them hard and go all Mark 8:36 on their asses.

"False outrage" isn't about you, it's about the industry the right wing has of creating an Outrage of the Moment, particularly when they're losing in the actual debate of ideas as they are now. God knows the left tries to do it too, and about the only thing I can say for them in their defense is they're not as good at it. It works very well with either side's rabble rabble rabble contingent, and the ratio's a little higher on the right.

My efforts to "reset" my brain about Edwards evidently worked, I had forgotten that particular low light. I'll say again: if I never read, see or hear another article about presidential siblings, relatives or spouses (and that includes candidates, too) it'll be fine with me. The exceptions would be serious injury or illness and indictments. Other than that, i don't care. We don't elect first ladies, first children or first brothers in law. Anybody feeling cheated they haven't heard much from Hilary's thug brothers lately?

The worst example of this behavior (and one I chickened out on using) was Jackie Kennedy bending over to suggest to John John that he salute as daddy's coffin was carried past him. She also helpfully took the program out of his hand to make that particular heart wrenching photo op possible.

Finally, the ****** nozzel who wrote that piece has apologized for using the word "retarded," as he should have.

Re: Obama XX: Maybe We'll Even Talk About Obama

Which ideas and how are we keeping score?

When you propose ending Medicare as we know it and 70% of tea party members tell you to take a flying leap, I think you've pretty much lost. Not that the Democrats have won by any means, but that proposal is DOA.

I wouldn't say the GOP has lost; I'd say all of us watching this unfold have lost as both sides have basically forfeited by floating proposals that nobody will support. :p

I see precious little in that article that has to do with the frequency and/or manner in which Palin has used Trig as a political prop - which she certainly has, and which could certainly be legitimately questioned in an appropriate, adult way.

Instead, in that article I see:

-name calling
-questioning of a child's parentage
-poking fun at a child's name
-laughing at the mannerisms of a baby with Down's Syndrome
-guffawing that a baby with Down's Syndrome will never know who Van Halen is

In other words: pure, evil-spirited, meanness.

Re: Obama XX: Maybe We'll Even Talk About Obama

I wouldn't say the GOP has lost

I'd say they had an early lead and blew it, but that the Dems' lead shouldn't give us much satisfaction because it's not built on anything substantive (real deficit reduction by fixing the systemic problems caused by our slide towards plutocracy) but is merely the popular reaction to the GOP's gall and ineptitude (sacrifice EVERY national interest to protect their paymasters' tax holiday).

Obama does have a cause, now, though: saving Medicare (legit) and Social Security (it was never at risk, but hey, spin-a-rama) by repealing Bush's crony capitalism (Obama's own crony capitalism, courtesy of Larry Summers, Tim Geithner, Hank Paulson and the rest of those rackateers, will of course remain sacrosanct). The GOP's big chance in 2012 was to have the election just be the continuation of the incoherent anger of 2010, but now Obama has something very specific to hammer them with and, like Clinton, they do not want to mess with him on the merits; he will fillet them and maybe even save a Senate seat or two.

I've reduced it to this:
GOP: "We're going to **** everyone over to protect the tax cuts".
Dems: "We're going to **** everyone over to protect entitlements".

**** it, let's just get the too-powerful supercomputer to play endless games of tic-tac-toe with zero players and be done with it.

Re: Obama XX: Maybe We'll Even Talk About Obama

Oh man, Wonkette's all the rage in the Echo Chamber this morning. It's a PC panty party over there.

I wonder if they know they just took a really obscure, inside-baseball Hill blog and made it a star?
