small time... as i said, dems wasted an opportunity when the country could have said "hell, why not try it... this probably should work".
They had a ton of political capital but they blew it giving themselves pats on the back and feeding their own political backers with the "stimulus" or as better put "democratic party feeder organization 'Christmas'".

Small time? They're piloting this as a way to completely reform the way we fund transportation in this country. That's not small time, under any definition.
Look, if you were looking for the second coming of the interstate highway act, that's great - I'd love to see something of that scale, too - but that's not going to work as stimulus. It's not fast enough. Now that it's clear we a) have the need for the infrastructure, and b) have the need for more economic investment, and c) have a transportation bill that's expired and in need of renewal, we'll see some movement.
I'm sorry, but to simply dismiss this as small time shows no real understanding of what is realistically possible.

The last president to reside over a balanced budget was Ike. I don't hear anyone clamoring for tax rates to go back up to what they were when he was in office.

Yes, he presided over balanced budgets in FY 99 and FY 00. I should have said the last president to leave office presiding over a balanced budget was Eisenhower, but I see that's even incorrect. The last president to leave office with a balanced budget was Coolidge.
Of course, rolling taxes back to what they were under Clinton is Socialism, so I can't imagine what would happen if taxes were rolled back to those levels.

They did go for a lot in rail. Not as much as China has been doing, another area where they'rer taking the initiative and kicking our azz, but they did include a lot in the bill for high speed rail, and existing rail systems.
And what did they get for their efforts? Republicans making up some BS story and then trumpeting it loudly in the media about them for wanting to construct a rail line from Los Angles to some hoo-ahhouse in Nevada.
Yes, it's time for the Democrats to change the tone in Washington.

Because you can be healthy one day and suddenly have an ailment tomorrow...like, say, a brain tumor. That's why it's called insurance. They don't give life insurance policies to dying people. On September 26 I was perfectly healthy. On September 27 things changed slightly. Because I had health insurance, I could afford an operation that saved my life. Without insurance, I would either be dead, be paying the hospital bill for the rest of my life or be forced to file bankruptcy.
