Re: Obama 9 -- Its Been a Whole Year Now

Needed two more classes, but had plenty on my plate to begin with. And yes, minors tend to be a joke.

Yeah. I thought about becoming a brain surgeon. Never actually took the classes, but I did consider it so that makes me qualified to tell those in the field what they're doing wrong. MinnFan logic at its best. :D

Re: Obama 9 -- Its Been a Whole Year Now

No one cares about that. Isn't the private sector grande? They make all our problems as a nation disappear with a snap of a finger.

The "private sector" (read: disability insurance) thinks I should go back to work (or at least stop taking their precious money) even though my balance is 60/40, I can't go down a flight of stairs without feeling like I'm going to fall and if I ever fall I'm going back to the ER because there is a ****ing tumor in my brain and a big hole in my skull...

I wonder if this fabulous private sector has any HR directors who want to hire a walking lawsuit...

Don't be offended, but I'll stick with my brain surgeon, thanks. :p

Sounds about right. Sorry for your troubles though, you don't deserve it.

Maybe you should enroll at the University of Phoenix ... or DeVry Institute. Live your dreams! :p

Re: Obama 9 -- Its Been a Whole Year Now

Then you have people who are legitimately unemployed losing their benefits because the private company wants a few more dollars.

...or perhaps because the company has no revenue coming in, will have to shutter and let everyone else go.

Brilliant, liberal logic. Sacrifice the entire flock to save one - because everyone should be the same.

Lesser of all evils.

Brilliant conservative logic. Sell the customer insurance and then don't honor the contract.

You're assuming that the unemployed aren't able to prove their case. It's pretty simple: Look for work and document your search for employment. People should be documenting their work search anyhow--it's good practice to revisit possible job opportunities, and when Uncle Sam and/or Uncle Sam's contractor come calling, you have your ducks in a row.

In any case, I seriously doubt that a private company (that has to worry about productivity) would spend time attempting to screw over one honest person when there are so many derelicts out there milking the system illegally.

Right. Private companies don't have entire departments that comb through records hoping to find something that will invalidate a contract. Private companies don't hire private investigators to follow people around.

Re: Obama 9 -- Its Been a Whole Year Now

It's so comical to watch you and Plante on this topic. With all the evil that private companies have done over the years the way you two just give them a pass is so cute.

You know that the Cuyahoga River caught fire because of the government, right?

Apparently they haven't done evil to either of them. They should honor their contracts when they don't, the courts should punish them. What system would be better?

And the government has done evil to them I'm sure. Oh, that's right, they tax them so that's evil.

We are still talking about unemployment here, right? There's no contract for UI. And if your disability insurance contract is invalidated, you should probably take that up with your employer or insurance agent.....a contract is a contract.

And those who are on disability insurance shouldn't have anything to worry about regarding private investigators following them, unless of course they're defrauding the insurance companies. Case in point:

The City of Superior (WI) has over two dozen former law enforcement officers that are currently getting permanent disability payments for injuries suffered in the line of duty. Four of them play on my uncle's fastpitch softball team......3B, SS, 2B and C. One of them scored the winning run in the league championship with a diving Pete Rose-style slide into home. How do I know this to be fact? I was there. Makes me sick.

Actually, he said to "start" with UI and then move to Medicare...

I like how your defense of private companies hiring PIs is "If you aren't doing anything wrong you have nothing to worry about."

What's cute is that you give private companies zero credit for building this country. For every "evil" corporation that is out there doing dirty deeds, there are thousands that never cross the line to commit ethical transgressions.

If you're so worried about the evil that flows from the private sector, pass laws that severly punish fraud and other unethical dealings. All excessive regulation does is punish the 99.9% of businesses that are doing things the right way.

What's so funny is how we gave the keys to the banks and they all ****ed us. Now we're all screwed financially and they all got rich.

But you get down with your bad self on your excessive regulation argument.

C'mon, Priceless.....you're smarter than this. Disability insurance companies just have to pay out regardless of any proof of fraudulent claims? You're essentially saying that it's OK for people to fraudulently collect disability insurance, which speaks volumes about your warped world view. And I suppose that EVERYONE that is on disability has a PI following them, right? The only time something like that happens is when the company has reason to believe there is fraud occurring--hiring PIs isn't cheap.

Next I suppose you'd like to do away with managers and supervisors that make sure their employees are productive.....you know, it's an employee "right" to collect a paycheck without being hassled by people who want to make sure said paycheck is deserved.

And with regards to Medicare: Private investigators would be preventing the fraud/abuse/waste by providers, not seeking to keep old people off of Medicare. Now Social Security/Disability.....there's a HUGE issue with fraud/abuse in that entitlement program.
