But at least you're watching them instead of the boring drivel on CNN or MSNBC.
How so?
Diamond-in-the-rough kind of city. Too many people's image of Chicago is Cabrini-Green, like their image of Philly is South Philly. There are gorgeous, virtually unknown parts of each. Very street-wise, bustling, on-the-make, energetic places. I meant it as a compliment.
Magda Morris, 31, a stay-at-home mother who lives in Midtown, said, “I really don’t care. It would be better if it was New York.” She added, “I’ve never been to Chicago; all I know is that it’s pretty cold, colder than New York.”
And Lindsey Signorelli, 24, a student from New Jersey, said, “Not that I’m anti-American, but I was kind of hoping Brazil would win.” She added, “I’ve never been to Chicago to judge, but it doesn’t seem to be a place to hold the Olympics.”

Fair enough. Besides, after reading these comments from the NY Times, I remember once again why I hate New Yorkers.
Really? In NY ***** City, you couldn't find two people who've actually been to Chicago?
It's Rio's to lose. I just can't see them giving it to Europe that many times in a row.
I think the U.S. was also hurt by recent squabbles with the IOC over various things. I read that there isn't even a U.S. member now on the board of directors, and the U.S. really doesn't have much pull in Olympic circles anymore.
This is very true. The IOC Governing Board is mostly made up of Europeans.

I doubt the U.S. will see another Olympics for quite awhile. There will always be other viable candidates, and it doesn't take that many IOC members with grudges against the U.S. to keep the Olympics out of this country for a long time.
Really, the IOC is sort of like a sports United Nations.
I've seen your picture. The cats win.I never got my ballot.

I guess, even if its detrimental to the United States.
I disagree. The only big losers here are organized crime and Chicago politicians, which are pretty much one in the same.
They may have influence, but the IOC as a whole is who votes.
