Obama 10: Rahm it through.....even in the shower.

Re: Obama 10: Rahm it through.....even in the shower.

What makes you say that? I may not be from the UP, but up until this healthcare hullabaloo, I know that Stupak was highly respected by a majority of his constituents, winning by 65%+ landslides in many re-elections. He originally ran on a platform of fighting for healthcare reform, so why is it suddenly a surprise and "betrayal" that he worked to get the recent bill passed?

Stupak overplayed his hand, badly. He put himself in a position of being pro-reform but also anti-abortion. He turned the rhetoric up so much and got boxed in by declaring the Senate bill's language unacceptable. He was not quiet about this at all, thus any compromise on his part would hurt, big time.

He made a very public tactical mistake. I'm still surprised he's not running, however.

I don't know what's in Gates' head. What part of the treaty that I posted with both Presidents' signatures at the end are you having trouble comprehending?

The part where the Secretary of Defense publicly contradicts that treaty. :p

An exception under Obama's plan would allow an option of reconsidering the use of nuclear retaliation against a biological attack if there is reason to believe the United States were vulnerable to a devastating attack.

So if there is no reason to believe we are vulnerable and we get hit anyway, that means we won't be retalitaing with nukes.

Got it.

:D

Don't you know... the fact that Obama can say two contradictory things makes him so nuanced and awesome... at one hand he's a non-homicidal smart thinker... on the other hand he's a sharp thinker who will stand for this nation in the face of the enemy.

Now, usually we'd call that being "two-faced" or "talking about of both sides of your mouth".... but this is Obama we're talking about.

Here's a good synopsis.
There's not much doubt that if the kill-more-babies nightmare that's running to represent about a dozen lefties in Traverse City and Gratiot Lake wins the nomination (she has a big head start as Stupak's only primary foe), we'll end up with a Tea Party-endorsed Republican representing us. If she gets run over by a last-minute moderate dem, it'll be very close.

also: How many other congressional districts have 3 D1 hockey teams?

Obviously the only factor in those countries doing poorly is that there's a VAT tax.

Yeah, Germany and Norway are two steps away from BK too. One thing I did agree with is that any US VAT would probably not be accompanied by a reduction in income taxes, or any reasonable overhaul of the entire tax code.

This guy sacrificed his political career for the greater good in my opinion. Just like a lot of dems. It's fine, they probably weren't doing much good.

Hopefully the next group of Republicans in charge aren't corrupt, war loving, drunken-sailor spenders like the last group.

That describes everyone in DC

Re: Obama 10: Rahm it through.....even in the shower.

So let me get this straight. The policy is, "We won't use nukes unless we decide to," right?

I guess I'm okay with that, even as a knuckledragger wannabe... :)

Re: Obama 10: Rahm it through.....even in the shower.

Sorry but that last group of Rs turned it up a notch, even for Washington.

No. It's just likely neither he or anyone on his staff can read.

Don't be sorry, I have no respect for either party.

But it didn't have to be that way for Stupak. He overplayed his hand, both personally and with regard to the House's power vis a vis the Senate.

His grandstanding on the abortion issue, as well as his strident support for HCR left him with no place to go when those two issues collided. He almost was able to work out a compromise with the first iteration that passed the House, but his strident opposition to a very reasonable Senate compromise on the issue left him no room to maneuver.

I'm going to start playing five-card draw the Obama way - with three cards facing away from me.

Re: Obama 10: Rahm it through.....even in the shower.

Isn't that essentially five-card stud?

Not if you're drawing cards. You're thinking of seven card stud, I think. Regardless, it beats playing it the Priceless way, which is to eat cards instead of discarding them.

Well, actually, I'm thinking of five-card stud. But right, you're obviously not drawing in stud. I simply ignored that fact because this is a political thread so it seemed apt.

Only if you love O.
No only if you realize that socialism and marxism are not the same thing.

That clip also suffers from being from Huckabee's propaganda show.
