Re: Obama 10: Rahm it through.....even in the shower.

The executive order is a fig leaf, if that.

The Executive Order must be that new line item amendment/veto power the Prez was given when he took office - that went under everyone's radar.

If it wasn't the worst instance of malfeasance in the history of our Republic, it might be funny.

Some heads will roll on this one. I'm stocking up on popcorn and beer.

Executive Orders have been around a long time. They are basically the President's directive to agencies under him as to how they should proceed on an issue. The main thing is, they can be rescinded at any time by this or a future President. Not to mention that behind the scenes he could easily tell his agency heads to enforce it very loosely.

Not sure how this relates to any line item veto.

Re: Obama 10: Rahm it through.....even in the shower.

I agree with that article.

There is a lot of truth in that article. This shouldn't lessen the blame on the Democrats for what they're doing to this country, but there's no way they'd be in a position to force this stuff through if the Bush and the Republicans hadn't botched some things pretty badly.

Gridlock sounds bad until you see the alternative.

You knew this was coming, just not this soon: It's Bush's Fault!

That article is spot on. The GOP completely missed the boat and they have no one to blame but themselves.

Virginia was the first to sue this morning.
Florida, South Carolina, Nebraska, Texas, Utah, Pennsylvania, Washington, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Alabama plan to file a joint suit as soon as the President signs the bill.
11 down, 39 to go.

Re: Obama 10: Rahm it through.....even in the shower.

As far as I know the Hyde Amendment and Roe vs. Wade are the law of the land. Where's the expansion?

Oh you must not have gotten the "New World Order of Socialism" sent from the home office in Cuba. It is pretty clear now if you want to ever get your license or buy food in a store you need to knock up 12 women and kill their babies in the town square! The China Amendment will call for us to eat them but that is a few years off...

Re: Obama 10: Rahm it through.....even in the shower.

Color me shocked that it passed, and I'm pretty disappointed that it passed in the form it did.

I think the most interesting thing I heard about the legislation is it's similar to what Nixon asked for during his term and it's what Hillary Clinton rejected during her attempt.

Clearly it's socialism then.

You have consistently declaimed that both parties are the same, the game is a racket, no change is possible, no election result matters.

I think you will agree that this was a real difference and one that was worth either fighting for or against. It is not just a shell game.

(BTW, Nixon's proposal was to the left of this one. But he had an R so our friends didn't need to burn their crosses over it.)

Sweet...keep on wasting that money on a lawsuit that wont win!

I love that North Dakota is wasting time on this...you would think they would have more pressing issues...nah screw the river WE NEEDS TA FIGHT DA SOCALIZM!!!11!

I wonder what they will say to Obama when they go begging for relief...my guess is they will sound like Oliver Twist :p

Hey...I think I saw a bunch of people jumping out of highrises downtown today as the stock market cratered! Of course I think most of them took Kansas in their bracket and that was really why they jumped but who knows :p

Please secede again. We promise we won't stop you this time. :p

To be frank, 100x more people are passionate about Kansas losing than anything that happens in politics. There's not really an appropriate emoticon for that.

Re: Obama 10: Rahm it through.....even in the shower.

I get the feeling that they'll find someone to blame. Someone that they can easily slip the "Socialist" tag on.

Well of course they will, that's how they play the political game. I was just trying to be honest about who they SHOULD blame.

Yeah, it will be pretty interesting to watch the Commerce Clause and Supremacy Clause arguments, especially bouncing up against the 10th Amendment. However, at the end of the day, I doubt it will derail all of the bill. I suspect the individual purchase requirements, tied to any penalty, will be most suseptible to challenge.

I don't know what to say, I mean some of the all time slam dunks have failed in court.
