Let's make one thing perfectly clear. Notre dame cares about rivalries when it suits them. The reason they chose hockey east is because they were allowed the TV deal that the NCHC wouldn't go for. Now, the big ten wants them but more importantly is allowing the tv contract. A convenient excuse for the frauds to tell everyone they did this because of rivalries.

Can't we just all agree this is a win win for everyone...

HE gets rid of Notre Dame and B1G gets ... well can't we just all agree this is a win for HE.

They certainly value their TV contract and their football team's independence. You're preaching to the choir with many B1G fans.

Love how HE posters are claiming to not be butthurt by this while continuing to be butthurt.


Notre Dame's just not in to you anymore. It happens.

Grab a tub of ice cream, have a good cry and get on with your lives in your one sport conference.

I do think it is a win for everyone. B1G gets another team in the fold, and that should help with Pairwise. The fact that Notre Dame is a competitive program that has made two Frozen Fours in the last 10 years is a bonus and will help even more with Pairwise.

Notre Dame gets what it wants with less travel, traditional rivals, and gets to keep it's precious TV contract.

Hockey East gets rid of a program that clearly didn't fir in and will likely add a program that better fits as a rival and minimizes travel.

Not sure who you are referring to but i am certainly not butthurt about them leaving. I do hate them though, just not for leaving hockey east.

Which makes them a welcome addition to our schedule 4 times a season. ;)

I can't figure out why you Wisco fans are so happy. Notre Dame didn't exactly light HE up but they will be way better then the badgers. It's just one more team that will be ahead of you in the rankings... I'd think you'd be more upset then happy.

So how do BI7 teams think scheduling will change for them given this addition. Playoffs?

With seven teams you can still stick with 4 games against league opponents and now have 10 OOC games. The Notre Dame add in 2017-18 gives you next season to find a new team to get you to 8, then things get interesting with scheduling I would guess. 28 in conference games is a lot these days, given the current landscape with many more OOC games.

How will you deal with 7 teams for playoffs if you are stuck with that for another year.

Is there any way ASU might get the Alaska treatment and become exempt games? I imagine that would make them very attractive to you guys as it would allow for the 4 in conference games, while still getting 10 OOCs.

Idk if this is even possible but what about this.... we combine the NCHC with WCHA. Then combine the HE and the BIG. AHA would have to go somewhere i know. Havent figured out were they would go. League would break up and those teams would have to join one of the other 2 conferences.
