Notre Dame at Boston University 10/20

Re: Notre Dame at Boston University 10/20

Yeah, but that's all BC knows they have. We're certainly not going to force anyone back before they're ready when we can instead start last year's Rookie of the Year.

Not only that, but Muse is more recovering from surgery from 5-6 months ago than he is actually "injured" and his rehab has gone well enough that he is playing sooner than expected. Rollie was injured a few weeks ago and has been listed as day-to-day or week-to-week since then. But I guess a UMass fan is more up on our injured players than we are, so by all means, let's give Rollie a game even though he isn't ready, because Muse's rehab from surgery has him back playing a little ahead of schedule.

That said - little more than 5 hours till the puck is dropped. W00t!!!

A reminder to BU and ND fans alike who aren't going tonight that we'll be live blogging tonight's game (link in signature).

Wait......what?????? Where did they block off?? And there was a movie shoot on campus and I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT IT???? Well this just keeps getting better. *sigh*

mookie - did you not make it in to the game? I didn't see you. They had more of the posters and I got you one. I'll bring it on Saturday.

Now, the game.

Um.......

Well.....

Oh! There was......no, I was wrong.

Let's see.....

We could talk about......nope, we can't talk about that.

How about.....no, nothing there either.

*sigh*

I thought that the Notre Dame fan section was great. Nice to see so many there. That's about all I have!

The ubiquitous Drunk and Needlessly Arrogant Notre Dame fan sitting behind me in 116 wasn't so great. But when it comes to ND sports, it's expected.

I agree, and very polite... managed to talk to a couple about my irish football fandom. I imagine it was strange for them to hear of yell BC Sucks so many times... I'm sure you'll get no disagreement from that group (BC @ South Bend coming up on Saturday!).

My apologies to any forumites who were in attendance for the ignorant Freshman in the front of 106 who didn't stop chanting "Phillips, Phillips, you suck," the entire game... Not sure what that was about, it's not the norm in Agganis.

i was at a rink. not sure if you call it a "game" when one team shows up.

and then there was the middle-aged, Shawn Walsh doppelganger in 113 with a navy ND jersey on underneath his suit who was the embodiment of the needlessly arrogant ND sports fan profile. He spent half the game yapping at his buddy or on the phone blabbing about how "cool" it was to watch a ND hockey game. I'm sure if Iasked him who Dave Poulin is or where Jeff Jackson won 2 National Championships before Notre Dame, he probably couldn't tell you...

Re: Notre Dame at Boston University 10/20

Immediately following the 3-0 whitewashing, probably after the quick-strike
2-0 ND ambush, while ND fans revel in their team's victory, BU fans gained the right to be moral arbiters. While some people believe the evening's losers should be magnanymous in defeat or, at least, keep their mouths shut, many believe they are granted the right to judge all others, and harshly.

ND fans are arrogant (never before heard about BU fans), ND fans were drunk and arrogant (never before heard about BU fans), ND fans aren't knowledgable and are fair-weather fans.

Why the heck wasn't the barn sold out for such a big college hockey game?

Why not talk about the hockey game and remember that you only earned the right to be the arbiters of all that is right and good because your team lost a hockey game.

After the little Minnesota-No Dak fan "altercation," who cares what you think of the other team's fans.

Pay no attention to the troll under the rock...

I'll be the first to admit ND fans can be arrogant, especially the ones who pronounce it "No-tra Dame". Most ND fans are simply FB fans and know next to nothing of the other sports, especially ND hockey. We found that out in Denver when the alumni club had a huge crowd and they all thought it was the "in" novelty to be there, but couldn't tell me one thing about their season or any player. I have no use for fans who wear dockers/a skirt and penny loafers/high heels to a sporting event...

That said, seek out the ones decked out in jerseys/sweatshirt emblazoned with ND who are under the age of 60, and you'll probably have a good time. :)

Ah, no worris JJFP. That troll is a UVM fan. It's to be expected. :) As mentioned, I noticed the crowd when ND scored and was amazed to see the size of the crowd. The Boston area alumni club bought tickets and were recognized on the scoreboard and were promptly booed, which was comical. I hope the ND fans there took it that way.

On a separate note - who were the play by play and color guys on ESPNU? I suppose I could watch what I recorded but the sooner this game disappears from my memory (and my TiVo's) the better. :o

Re: Notre Dame at Boston University 10/20

I have no problems with ND fans in general and was just pointing out the single fan b/c he stood out. I was expecting a sizable ND contingent and was not surprised that their local alumni group organized an event around the game. I've participated in multi-college alumni events w/ the ND Boston-area alumni group, and they've always been pleasant and fun to be around.

Every fan base has its share of people whom you wish didn't represent your team/school. Slurpees and I just happened to each recognize two that stood out.
