Not so ez????

Re: Not so ez????

it was 27 below here this morning, and I had a very large buck, and a Pileated Woodpecker come up to the bird feeder already this morning. I can hardly believe the miracle of engineering it takes for a 3/4 ounce junco or chickadee to stay warm enough over night not to freeze solid.

Overage Canadians. :)

I guess that's why the put the feathers in the puffy coats;) I haven't owned a real down jacket since my teens after which we graduated to snorkel coats, they may come in handy this week. It stinks when you have to go to a hockey rink to get warm.:D

As the old joke goes, an extroverted statistician is one who looks at your shoes when he talks to you.

Lol. I've heard them all as this dork at a wedding I was at decided to make fun of the groom, an actuary (my cousin). Not knowing that the mother of the groom and like 10 other people there were also actuaries.

I can't believe the miracle of engineering it takes to get a human being to hang around places where it's 27 below. That's even too cold for pond hockey if the wind is blowing.

What are you talking about. The only time it's too cold for pond hockey is when your skates freeze to the ice.... around absolute zero.

I don't stop eating ice cream until it's 35 below, and then only because the tires on my car typical freeze to my driveway, and it isn't worth it to go to the store and get more.

You just have to rock it a little bit, hard on the transmission... worth it though if the trip for ice cream is due to a pregnant wife

I don't mind rocking the tranny, but I hate when the tires stay flat on one side cause it's so cold.

I need a cable to go hook up my new TV, so it's time to go out and do some drifting in the subaru. That car is a lot more fun with worn, hard tires, and a couple of inches of fresh snow.

Re: Not so ez????

I slid about 200' right through a four way stop today, I guess that tread just above the wear indicators is not cutting it these days. ABS, schmABS, didn't help a lick. Of course, driving too fast for conditions was not a factor:)

200'?!?

Re: Not so ez????

New snow on top of ice, I was doing about 30 on a slight decline in FWD high in an 06 Explorer, quite surprised, even tried the old school pumping of the brakes after doing the ABS hold down. Luckily for me no one at the intersection.

Jeebus. I can't recall ever sliding 200' in my car. Even when going over 30.

It's really not that far if you think about it, 150' to the intersection and 50' through, we have had some freezing rain prior to the 6" we woke up to this AM, counting my blessings tonight.

Oh BTW Yale is now five points up on the rest of the ECAC! Good solid win tonight over Clarkson, who played them well until the last minutes..

I suppose.

Re: Not so ez????

Interestingly enough, my car's owner manual said turning off the traction control can help if you get stuck in the snow. I found out this winter, they weren't lying. Works like a charm, just don't floor it and hold it unless you want to replace your tires once a year :D

Isn't Clarkson the same team that UMD took to the wood shed and beat with ease?
