Not fond of this new look

Re: Not fond of this new look

There was no reason to change the site. Many people like to look at both DI and DIII and will now have to go to two different locations, versus reading it on one. Just made sight more difficult.....my vote would be to go back to the old one!!!!

Hopefully, they won't split the Women's Fan Forum in two ... just the links to the various conferences/teams, etc.

Well the good thing is that if you click on the link for D3 women...it says page does not exist. I can't imagine that page will be very up to date

where'd the user CP go?

Re: Not fond of this new look

You can access rep under settings. Definitely much harder to find.

Thanks Mattj. You can see the "usercp.php" link address pop up when you move your cursor onto the settings menu option.

Note that there is a handy quick navigation bar at the bottom.

Pages are still limited to the last 20. Wish there was a way to adjust those settings.

Re: Not fond of this new look

Another thing gone missing is the ability to view past posts of a user. Right now it only shows the postings done since the cutover. (~noon today).

Re: Not fond of this new look

It is actually a much better looking site now, much more readable. I am sure the substantive (not I don't like it) issues brought up in here will get addressed.
Soon you won't even remember the old format.

Re: Not fond of this new look

Why change it? Did it really need changed? If not, don't fix it.
Maybe they wanted to get you a present, and didn't know what to get? Happy birthday, BTW.:)

That might indicate that they didn't get an index rebuilt -- perhaps that functionality returns at some point.

I've been on both the developer and user side of many system upgrades, and very few of them are popular on day 1. Over time, people adjust. USCHO upgraded to a newer version of vBulletin. If they don't stay somewhat current on the vendor software, the system will eventually not be supported and you aren't able to take advantage of new technology. The question might be why vBulletin made all of the changes they did, but I'd hope that the new design works better on new generation mobile devices. If not, then they are moving in the wrong direction.

Re: Not fond of this new look

I'm not thrilled that the "Remember Me" box won't check so I seem to have to re-log in every time.

There seem to be different ways to communicate with each other though and that might be exciting... You can also create a "Friends" list although I don't know what you'd do with it. At times here it might be better to create an "Enemies List"... :D

I found the User CP stuff under the "Settings" tab on the top.

Re: Not fond of this new look

The pages are up for both DI and DIII women.

But they don't seem to have a link for the Forums ... not sure where this is going.

I guess we'll have to wait for the full load.

>> Oh, didn't see the links at the top and bottom of the page.

Re: Not fond of this new look

Way to freak me the hell out, USCHO Fan Forum Administrators!:D

I'm not a fan, personally. The rounded edges are just too... bleh.

Re: Not fond of this new look

And whe:rolleyes:re are the emoticons? I feel a bit sad, and would like everyone to know:O

Re: Not fond of this new look

I have tried three browsers to check the "remember me" box...Safari..no luck, mozilla..no luck, and internet explorer through virtual windows on my mac. It worked on the virtual IE, but since I do not use this regularly, because it lags...I have to sign in each time... Needs to be fixed for all types of browsers

i was able to click it no problem, but i think I went about it a different way. However, I've heard if you hit tab after you type your password and then the spacebar it marks the box for you and then you can hit enter nad it will remember your password

The graphics look like something off a kids toy. Leapfrog comes to mind.

Thanks gojackets. tab spacebar works for me. Problem at least temporarily solved.

Re: Not fond of this new look

First, I think all of you who are struggling with this should accept a book recommendation:

"Who Moved My Cheese". It's been out for a few years now, and it's a fairly quick read. You'll find it with other management type publications.

Second, to quote our great leader, "This is what change looks like"!
