144th meeting of THE GAME tonight at Kreitzberg at 7 pm between Middlebury and Norwich.
Although Middlebury leads the all-time series 80-56-7, Norwich is 7-2-1 against the Panthers in the last 10, including shutouts in 2 of the last 3 meetings.
NU won last year's lone meeting 5-0 scoring four goals in the first period along with Chris Czarnota recording a shutout in goal.
Middlebury's last win came on Feb. 7, 2009 with a 4-2 win. The Panthers won both meetings during the 2008-09 season as Midd also scored a 3-2 win over Norwich in the PrimeLink ShootOut finals earlier in the season at the Chip Kenyon Arena.
Norwich is making its seventh straight PrimeLink Tournament final appearance and will be in search of their record eight ShootOut championship. Middlebury is second with four titles. Plattsburgh will have to wait until next to try and win their fourth tourney title. The Cardinals did win the last one on home ice though in 2010.
