Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

Heard a rumor that Norwich is playing in Fenway Park in January?

Maybe 1/13 or 1/14, against Babson or UMB? Couple it with the high school games going on Saturday, or a stand-alone Friday night affair?

Prez, thanks for the pic....signature image updated.

In today's Times Argus there was an excellent article by Anna Grearson discussing the Cadets 2011/2012 season. A couple of items that caught by eye was a comment by Coach Mike McShane that the freshman class is a little stronger than he anticipated. The coach also talked about NEC's transfer goalie from the U of Maine who is rearlly good (who) Norwich tried to recruit a few years ago. He felt NEC has a very storong team this season. Times Argus site is protected so I was unable to attach a link to the story. Should be a very competitive game both Friday and Saturday.

Sean Sirman looks to b that goalie from Maine, played about 1000mins with a 2.77ga 4-2-3, not bad, must have been a personality conflict?? we all know what can happen with a good/HOt goalie...should be fun to watch this weekend..

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

Hi everyone. Happy Thanksgiving, a little early I know. I just got my tickets to the Primelink at Middlebury and I am very psyched about seeing some quality games this year. It will be my first trip to Middlebury and was wondering if anyone can tell me the best (quick and safe) route to get there from the Barre/Montpelier area? Is Rte. 17 over the gap open year around? Seems I remember it being closed in the winter years ago. Is it just as fast to go to So. Burlington and down route 7? Also, my tickets don't list seat numbers, so I assume it is first come, best seats. How early should someone arrive to get decent seats. Thanks for any info you can give me. See you at the games! Go Norwich.

Middlebury fans tend to show up early and put blankets over seats that they want to use during the last period of the Midd game, and then they growl at you when you "invade" their space. The Muddlebury blanketeers really annoy me. If you want good seats, get there when the rink opens and put your blanket over your own seats. Chip Kenyon is a nice facility, but I really hate the seating issues that arise because Midd doesn't want to sell reserved seats. What's dumb is that all the seats in the arena have numbers, too.

Well then throw the blanketeers a blanket party:eek:

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

As to the important part of your question, Rt 17 will be fine in clear weather. If its cold (less than 40 in the valley)and rainy/spitting, then the top of 17 can be a bear. In that case continue south and go over Middlebury Gap (Rt 125) out of Hancock as it has less elevation change and less steepness.

As to the blanket nonsense, the "blanketeers" get there early so if you want to compete for the best seats...simple.....get there early.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

Long range forecast looks good to go either route.
Although NU or Plattsburgh are a draw for a lot of Midd fans, the fact is that Midd's game is at 7 and the students won't be there. There oughta be plenty of choice seats available. And as Willie said, just get there early.

But first we have tonight's home opener against a much improved NEC team, and tomorrow a team that played Castleton as tough as anyone. Good opening test for the Cadets!

My complaint about the whole thing is that one person seems to hold seats for about 10 others. I had hoped that the practice would end when you moved out of the "Duke" and got a modern arena, but clearly that did not happen.

Two nights before Prime Link and this thread is on the second page. SHAME, SHAME, SHAME

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

the primelink is a terrific tourny--no matter what day you go it doesn't matter who is playing-- first game or second--you are going to see a very competitive hockey game. i hope primelink continues to sponsor this fantastic d111 tournament.i have no idea who is going to win this---but it will be very entertaining watching all four games.D111 hockey at it's best.

I thought the Norwich/Plattsburgh game was super competative defense wise and was glad Parker Carroll had a great night in goal he needed a confidence booster. So awesome to beat P-burgh and look forward to meeting Elmira tonight although the Middlebury match up would have been great too. go Wick!:)

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

Congrats to Norwich for winning the best tourney in the nation. The Prime Link is by far the best Tourney for it always has 3 of the best teams in the country, this year 4. It is as if you are in the NCAA final 4, for the teams are playing at such a high level in this touney.
After reading what was printed in the Plattsburgh Press Republican newspaper, and on line, I can't not imaging Norwich loosing the number 1 seed in any poll for the season and they diffently deserve it. "Wich fans enjoy this season for you just might go undefeated. Once again Congrats.

What are you trying to curse it? ;)

Norwich is far from unbeatable. They have holes just like every other team and have been snake bitten by injuries already this year.

This start is great but they've got a tough road to hoe here still to close out the first semester. Castleton, Skidmore and Plattsburgh to close it out is not easy, even if all three games are at Kreitzberg.

However, I must say, the trio of Janke, Thomas and Cotnoir is quite potent. Also, even after you deal with them you have to deal with the likes of players like Lindensmith, Allan and Mulvey that can all hurt you just as easily too.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

Heck no. It would be nice to have 'Wich have the bullseye on them all season, that leaves everyone else free from being that target and goal to strive for.
