Norwich Cadets Hockey 2010-2011: Title defense time.

From Prez, "I texted Charlie after the game saying I may be purple and gold at heart but tonight I bleed maroon and gold!!!!!! Way to go cadets".

I get Charlie's Corners emails and noticed he is sending them from Dartmouth Hitchcock Med Center. So sorry he is in the hospital. Can we get an update as to why he is in? Have they found a donor? I certainly hope that is the case. (Sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere, I have been out of town visiting my 90 year old Dad in the hospital). Even though I have never met Charlie, his battle and courage has touched my heart and I wish him a speedy recovery. I hope he gets a big screen tv with coverage of the games next weekend, if he is unable to see the games in person! He is in my thoughts and prayers. Go Cadet Crosby!:)

Charlie was released from this hospital early this afternoon. He made it to the rink to greet the womens team when they came back from Rochester.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2010-2011: Title defense time.

Come on guys we can close this thread down. We're into the 930s :D.

This team has shown a lot of growth, and the thing that I have been most impressed with is the way they have played defense. The offense is what everybody notices, but the defense is just pushing everything to the perimeters, and when they don't Carroll has been taking care of business. The toughest thing for Carroll behind that defense is that most of the shots he has to handle have been high quality shots.

I second your thoughts on the improvement of the defense. It is particularly encouraging to see how the two freshmen, Fulton and Gatien are playing. Gour has also looked good when he has been in there. Bodes well for the future, including next weekend.

Opps, forgot to mention Charlie's email today regarding viewing the Friday night game at Doyle Hall. That is an awesome idea and I will be attending. Will there be a potential Saturday night showing (if we win Friday night)? Thanks Norwich!

Ahem, didn't you mean "WHEN we win Friday night?" ;)

I'll be there too! Great idea! Now, if we could just get Northfield Savings Bank or some other deep-pockets sponsor to pony up for a big-time, 4-sided video display over center ice ... :D

Fixed your post ;)

The Norwich team is on the way to Minn. I hope that everyone is starting to feel the excitment. I can't wait for the first game.

Watching the Bruins -Habs game tonight on NESN.They showed 4 of the womens Cadets seating in the lower bowel of the rink with their jersey on. Sophie Leclec and 3 others. Jack Edwards said how they had won the DIV 3 Crown and that Norwich had a great Hockey program.:D:D:D Looked good on TV lady,s for about 10 sec.

Anyone have the video of this? I'd like to see it. Plus cool to see they mentioned it on VS the other day too. NU women getting lots of play lately.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2010-2011: Title defense time.

Men, It didn't have the ending we all hoped for, but 63 other teams would love to have been where you were. It has been a pleasure, and an honor, watching you this year. I regret not being able to make it this year, but rest assured, I was there in spirit.

Chad and Greg, every year we say good luck to the ones who, for the past 4 years, have been bigger and bigger parts of the team. I sincerely wish you all the best for your future, wherever it leads you.

Team, there is no question that the bar has been set very high for you. I don not think there is any question that you are up to the task.
See you next year in Laake Placid!!

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2010-2011: Title defense time.

It was a great run. After the start to the season we had, I wasn't very sure that we'd even get this far. Congrats for great careers to Chad Anderson and Greg Eskedjian.

As an aside, I had the pleasure of having Chad as a student when he was a freshman. I was impressed even then with his personality, focus, and diligence. I know he has done well in school since then, and I know he will be a success in whatever he does.

One of the great things about DIII athletics is the life cycle. Players arrive with great hope begin to contribute as freshmen and the cycle begins. Some take their places as integral parts of the team and pick up the pieces for those that have moved on. Some earn permanent place in our memories when they finish their careers. Hopefully all of them take something away from their experience that includes an education and a degree. There are some grads of NU hockey that are out there now doing great things. That's what is so great about athletics at this level.

Yesterday was a loss, but it is also something to celebrate. The grit, the focus, the passion of this squad will be remembered. Now we can all focus on the new world for ECAC East, and the start of next season when I'm guaranteed the kind of collision that the prez didn't get this weekend - a game between my old school (Dartmouth) and my old employer (NU). I'll be there and I have no idea who I'll root for, but most likely the underdog factor is going tilt the scales towards the Cadets. Excuse my rambles...

Prez and or Crosby, when are the men coming home and are there plans for a hero's welcome because I think they certainly desearve one? Please fill us in on the details when you know.
They gave us our money's worth of quality hockey this year and I am already planning an equally entertaining one next season. Congrats Cadets, Vermont is proud of you!

Just back from Minnesota and wanted to thank the team, coaches and administration for an outstanding season! The venue in MN was great and the quality of the games were superb! Congratulations and best wishes seniors Chad Anderson and Greg Eskedjian!
