Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2010-2011: Title defense time.
everyone take a big deep breath--hopefully the norwich team you saw this weekend will make the necessary adjustments and the freshmen will make that expected transition to d3 hockey-(some already have).this is still a very talented team.looking foward for the second half of the season.
Just don't hold your breath!!! I do think that Norwich has a very talented team, but the line up changes on a game to game bases, it's hard to have "chemistry" when that happens. If you look at the teams Norwich has beaten none are very strong, but if you look at the teams they have lost to, all are very good teams and Norwich has struggled to get the right player combinations to get them over the top.
My thoughts;
Line1: Janke, Coutnoir, Schreder, they seem to work well together and compliment each other and are most likely the best 1,2,3 combination in D3 hockey, this is the first PP line1
Line2: Thomas, Anderson, Bell, Thomas is a pure goal scorer, get him with guys who can get him the puck, Bell can do that and add some scoring. Anderson is a good all around player who can dig in the corners and has a good scoring touch, plus all three can stand infront of the net and take the punishment. PP line2
Line3: Forkey, Allen, Duszynski, Forkey was the top scorer last year he’s in a sophomore slump, but too talented to stay there, Allen is fast and has shown he can put the puck in the net, Duszynski is big and strong, good in the corners and can score.
Line4: Mulvey, Houston, McCann, this is your checking line, all are good skaters who don’t hurt you defensively and all have some offensive flare, so if they score it’s a bonus, (Plattsburg game, fourth line 2 goals) but main job is to stop the other teams top lines, or provide a spark when needed.
Power Play: Line1 and Line2, with Eskedjian, Gatien, Carpino, Baker
Penalty Kill: Line3 and Line4, with Eskedjian, Gatien, Carpino, Baker
