I add plenty. You obviously don't have a very good memory and didn't look very far back to not find the posts from me when the hockey games were still being played. It's summer, relax and have a fresca you crybaby.

I'm not going to apologize to you because I don't have any insight into what 15 year old boys look like without their shirts off or how good of a friend I am of "DW" yet I don't even know if he's grown since the NHL draft.

Have a good 4th everyone (including you candyvan).

I'm willing to bet most people disagree with you (at least BC fans who know what Nick and myself are like during the season).

The difference is we don't try to come across as know it alls.

So your idea of adding info is to go rom thread to thread and talk about perverted crap?

Throwing out bullet pieces of info is not a know it all. It's throwing out information. If you dont like it, shut your trap and dont read it. I am sure some people wouldnt mind hearing it and dont get all worked up like a school girl over the delivery.

Did DW grow an inch or so since the draft? I dont know or care. I never measured him and dont plan to. That will never be the difference of him being an NHL player and to discuss it shows how little you know about the sport. Brian Boyle has not grown since the draft and the word on him is he about 5 more bad games away from seeing his 2 way deal be AHL/ECHL.

Again, you "throw out" information with no sources, no links to anything, and we have no idea who you are. Why would anybody just accept what you're saying as gospel under these circumstances?

Who is "we"? You and Nick? the vast majority read it and take it for what it is. If you dont like it , dont read it. Is everyone else who reads it and moves on not allowed to because you dont like the delivery method? Grow up and dont feel the pathetic need to moderate what others might find usefull. I have never posted one thing that was not a fact. Who are you? JD? Wow, I knew I knew who you were.

Dont accept it as gospel but if I write something, it is out there, in more ways then one.

LOL

Is Cam Atkinson still at BC? You're gonna pretend you didn't rep me saying it was a FACT that he'd be leaving. What a fraud.

Dont accept it as gospel but if I write something, it is out there, in more ways then one.

This is exactly what I'm talking about.

Re: Northeastern Recruits

Zak Stone, could be special. 18 Home games!
Daniels brothers have put on 20 pounds. Justin could score 30 points next year. Drew could be a skilled power forward; teammates call him the "Jewish Hammer" a tribute to his hard checking style.

To be accurate, Drew is known as "The Hebrew Hammer". His teammates and the fans really appreciated the effort he put in and the improvement he showed as the season progressed. If Stone plays that style (as he has been known to) I'm sure he will have a similar nickname.

Hokydad -
Apparently you really enjoy watching the juniors develop into prospects, recruits and then contributors at the college level - as do I. You have most of your facts correct. I suspect that you are relatively correct on Oleksiak. He was a kind of speculative recruit who probably would have wound up in the OHL if he hadn't come to college this fall. The coaches are counting on him to mature as a player against the stronger competition and to be a high draft pick next year.

Ryan Renz should be a great pickup. NU beat out Miami of Ohio for his services. I believe he played as a 16 year old for Alberni Valley (with the MacMillan brothers) and, for all any of us knows, he may still be growing. The exact ht/wt of the recruits is neither written in stone, nor extremely accurate. What is known is that he is rangy, mobile, has great offensive skills and can play some pretty good D. Mean and nasty are too subjective for me to comment on until I have seen him play in person at least two or three times. His team went to the league semi-finals, losing to a team that drove Vernon to the wall in the finals. He was not only a regular on the team during the playoffs, he also ran one of the power play units! There was a ton of interest in him and Mark MacMillan by the time the playoffs ended. We came within an eyelash of getting both of them!

As for Cronin and the NHL job, you are nearly accurate, but you are a year late. He has a lot of friends in the league and gets feelers almost every year. He was being courted for a top AHL job a year ago at this time, but passed. In effect, he made a bet that the NU Athletics administration would give him a new long term contract that reflected what he had accomplished. He also wanted competitive salaries for his assistants, help with administrative details that would free the assistants to assist and recruit, an NHL quality tape (CD) system and several other items. Believe it or not. Shock of Shocks. The school came through on most items. Donations helped with the rest.

I think the result of the schools investment will be seen in the recruiting battles that we are in and are winning against top programs.

Before you ask, I should also say that it would be very impolite to reveal my sources. I can assure you that they are excellent.

Incidentally, which U. were you graduated from and/or are you affilliated with?

U maine

Nice post

Fyi, there was talk in LA at draft last week about nhl ast deal involving GC

The kid from AV is a player for sure but not the size CW said from USHR. I get the fact GC is trying to create the image that he is bringing in all big tough, chippy D but tha( is not the case in him or Oleksiak.

I guess anything is possible. Greg just commited to NU in May for the next four or five years (I forget which) for meaningful $. I suspect that he thrives on hard work. An NHL assistant's job probably wouldn't keep him busy enough. Seriously.

My sub to USHR expired in June and I debating whether or not to renew. They usually get the facts right and are relatively early. However the price of the service has doubled over the last three or four years to something like $132.50/yr. I think there are better values with more and broader coverage.

Glad to see your alma mater doing better. I have a soft spot for the Great State of Maine. In fact I'm writing from my summer "cottage" in Lyman.:)

To Ryecheers and Hokydad:
Given the range of subscription rates for the various scouting publications:
The Scouting News - $149.99 per year
rivals.com/collegehockey247.com - $99.95
USHR - $132.50
which has the best information (timely, accurate, etc.) for the money?

Also, what do you think of the free scouting sites (e.g. nhldraftnotes.blogspot.com)?
Thanks.

I've been meaning to take the trial offer for Rivals. They do a big job on football and hoops. The hockey service is new, but it has good genes.

As blogs go, WesternCollegeHockey.com is well designed and well written. It's focus is strictly CCHA and WCHA as well as upper Midwest HS hockey and the USHL. The author barely acknowleges the existence of HEA or ECAC,

Since your handle commemorates UNH hockey royalty, you want to explore the many blogs and free broadcasts done by supporters of the BCJHL where so many of today's Wildcats come from. The USHL has a similar, but less mature network.

The coaches I know have little use for the scouting comments and rankings in USHR. It may be that those comments are based on cursory observations + reputations and scoring in a particular tournament. The coaches OTOH have much more extensive lists of qualities that are important to them.

I have a group of interesting sites on my home computer. I'll try to get them to you in a few days when I return.

Scouting news and rivals are both heavily influened by parents. I wouldnt pay for either or.
Both are also spread out to thin. If I picked either or, it would be rivals.

USHR tends to be more specific and keeps good updates. CW tries hard to pass on good info and outside the box a hair, can at times though be a rag and favor ex players kids. All in all, very good. You get as much info on here as you do some of the sites.

Everyone should go to Maine in the summer we have a couple of houses in Ogunquit. Could never live in Maine, that state has one of the higest tax rates in the country.(every other person works for the government, federal, state or local).Save your money i just signed up for USHR.

Re: Northeastern Recruits

I really think Northeastern is going to be a dark horse in Hockey East this year! They're quietly returning an effective group of players, and will be especially tough at home.

Thiessen is a tough act to follow, but in a league where Foster is gone, Darling is gone, Lowell and UMass were both mauled with departures and graduations: I think Rawlings will keep them very competitive!

Good luck, Huskies! :)

Thanks for letting me know. Perhaps I'll take a trial to Rivals instead. I bet our friends at DHD would appreciate it if you were to "exerpt" the article about the two future Ds and drop it into a post.

Why do you suppose we are stockpiling lefthanded defensmen?

Re: Northeastern Recruits

Zak Stone was invited to the Islanders development camp. Nice to see another player getting some more training.

That's good to hear. It's also very convenient. He lives in Roslyn, which is a reasonable bike ride from the Islanders home ice. I wonder if the islanders know that Zak and his dad are (or were) rabid Ranger fans.;)
