Northeastern Huskies Offseason (Discipline: let's find it)

Re: Northeastern Huskies Offseason (Discipline: let's find it)

The news keeps changing, I thought Haar confirmed right after the draft that he was coming now he isn't? I don't think anyone really knows and we will just have to wait and see

Haar changed his mind and informed NU yesterday. Being drafted (very late) has apparently gone to his head. He was six spots ahead of "Mr. Irrelevant". He is still 17 and we all know the mature decisions that kids of that age are capable of. His adviser, (Ryan Clark probably) may have suggested that he should do another year in Fargo in hopes of being noticed by a WCHA team and playing closer to home. Good luck!

100% Correct, right now this is all speculation. Think about being an 18yo kid in this situation. They probably have 10 different opinions of what is "best" for them coming from every friend, family member coach, and now the team that drafted them. Unfortunately a lot of things have been said that don't reflect positively on our chances of them honoring their original LOI’s. Even without Haar/Gaudreau we have a pretty good entering class if you look at NU's recent recruiting record. And who knows what these guys are going to bring. Sometimes you get an undrafted player who turns into a first line player (See Ryan Ginand) and outperforms drafted players (think Daniels / Quailer potentially).

I think the main goal is to get a coach who can really recruit well. I also wouldn’t mind seeing a little less dump and chase. After this season, we really don’t lose much and do not have many players entering; we need to recruit for ’12-’13 and beyond, and we are lucky in that regard. So contrary to popular belief, this team is not in as bad of shape as we are making it out to be.

What in the world are you talking about???

Probably this:

Some good news. An extremely reliable source tells me that John Gaudreau personally reaffimed to us that he intends to attend NU this fall. He'll be on campus for an orientation session during the next few weeks. :D:D:D

Haar not likely. No NLI in place for an appropriate reason. Everyone else appears to be solid.

DK about ??Scarface. As for young "Goo" (BION that's one of his nicknames): I wouldn't post that kind of thing unless the source was impeccable. If you knew me, you'd know that!

Disclaimer: I can't control Calgary's influence or the possibility of us hiring a coach he seriously dislikes. As of late 6/26 he is coming.

I was kind of just messin' around. I believe it.

I'm just breakin' ya ballas a lil bit that's all. (Goodfellas)

As for Haar, hope he comes to Matthews an an away player.

I really want him to go to bu. I would have so much fun with that.

Honestly a few years from now what is going to be more important, a handful of recruits or a recruiting trend brought upon by a new coach? Let's see who comes in before we start declare the ship sinking.

Re: Northeastern Huskies Offseason (Discipline: let's find it)

An interesting name out that is David Quinn. Would love that!

This was floated shortly after Cronin left, the general line of thinking is this would be a bad hire for NU since Quinn is the odds-on favorite to replace Parker when he retires. Of course, that could be in one year, or it could be in ten. But if I were your AD, I wouldn't want to hire someone whose/who's got one eye up the street.

From Joe Meloni on twitter:

Official word from Northeastern is that John Gaudreau will be there next season. Will remain official until they hear anything from him.

Quinn is not on BU's good side right now. Why do you think he left?

Re: Northeastern Huskies Offseason (Discipline: let's find it)

At the risk of sounding like a certain poster on here that catches a lot of flak, I have a source that has talked directly to the kid and said he is between BC and BU but the Windsor Spitfires are heavily involved as well.

I have friends who are Orientation Leaders. I'll tell them to look for the name lol. That'll prove it.

Not surprised. Like I said in a previous post, atypical BC forward. Doesn't hurt either that people have mentioned he could be similar to Gionta/Gerbe.

He left because he had been given mixed signals as to when/if Parker would retire and he wanted to be a head coach. If BU came calling when Jack hangs them up, I have a VERY hard time seeing him say no.
