Northeastern Huskies 2019-20: Reloaded...and Still in Love with Stacy's Mom

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2019-20: Reloaded...and Still in Love with Stacy's Mom

Total domination in all phases of the game. The arena appropriately piped in "Stacy's Mom" at the end of the game.

Now to pickup some hardware tomorrow night.

Well that may have been one of their best games this season. Seldom do you find me up early the day after Thanksgiving but I think we are stating to GEL!

I am not so sure UNH is a very good team but we looked awesome today especially in Transition and pretty much stayed out of the box there were like 3 or 4 NU penalties and one drew the UNH player at the same time so we only skated a man down for 6 mins. We had been a little undisciplined early in the season but I think the frustration of learning a new system and playing with new line mates had been dissipating early in the season, but that has improved drastically these last few weeks.

Anyway, we need some quality wins after the break because our Pairwise sucks at 22. Mostly it seems our issue is based on SOS to date. However looking at the standings HE nay may realistically only send one or two teams to the ice dance this year.

I know I have been a snake bitten NU fan and as a result its been 35 years of seeing the glass as half empty. However, my attitude is starting to change this pm we sit atop the HE standings. We have blue chip recruits who now actually pick us over both BC and BU with consistency. and we have drafted players in the wings.

Huskies are now skating all over the pros from the NHL and AHL thru Europe and doing so more than adequately. Finally, if you wind up as a student athlete on Huntington Ave, you get a very valuable NU degree from a top 40 National University.

This has arguably been the most successful 4 or 5 year span in the history of the program and I truly believe this tend is going to continue. I just wish the stands at Matthews were filled on occasion.

Looking forward to more NU-Bentley games. :-)

also very happy for Pantano pitching the shutout. granted he didn’t see all that much... but early, made the saves that were needed. glad we got him when we did and post primeau, has been mostly reliable. win or lose tomorrow, good memories & fun experience for him, I am sure.

Do not underestimate Colgate. They are better than their record indicates.

kudos to Colgate - no quit in them.
This gm’s gonna be tied before we know it, unless we play our gm, play with grit and skate like we want it.

after a sloppy start, Colgate goalie playing very well.
If Huskies are to earn a W, will need to have something spectacular (like their earlier 3 goals) to beat him.

bit close for comfort.
gotta work on that discipline!!!

again, kudos to Colgate, no quit! fitting finals game.

anyway - congrats to NU on a strong PK throughout & finishing finally.
bring it back to Hockey East. safe travels to all.

First hardware of the year.

yup & may not be that much more this season (who knows), this was going to be that kind of up and down year.
Now at least team gets to enjoy this memory & trip forever and more power to them.

ups & downs from finals game aside - that was a very unselfish; timely play by Filipe to Struble, to get things started. Nice work Huskies :)

Sloppy game with way to many PIMs but I disagree this may be the 1st of a lot of hardware. Lets face it HE is in a down year this team has 10 wins before Dec 1. HE is wide open with the exception of a few bottom feeders. No reason we cant win a Beanpot, HE regular season or championship. Clearly they don't have the explosive O and goal tending that they have had over the last 2 or 3 seasons, but they may not need it. The D may actually be slightly better and I think all the lines are pretty good right now. I do agree they will have to play better during the stretch and stay out of the box! Anyway, it was a nice weekend of hockey that displays our NCAA game across the pond. Safe home!

Take another look at the thread title. This is a "reload" year, instead of a "rebuild" year. A lot depends on how well and how quickly the freshmen adjust to the college game and it looks at this point that they're pretty much over that hump. Ringing up 10 wins before November is over with the number of frosh we have is something none of us thought could happen and bodes well for things to come.

What's different about this team is that it's winning with defense. And to emphasize just how deep the defense corps is, lets remember that both Kislin and Bucheler are down with injuries and Collin Murphy and Tyler Spott have stepped right up.

Bottom line: With a lockdown D and quickly maturing frosh, there's just no reason to assume they can't successfully defend the Beanpot and HEA championship. Nothing guaranteed and a few setbacks are inevitable. But barring the unforeseen NU will be very much in the hunt for more hardware.

Watching Islanders vs. Habs, color commentator Butch Goring notices Cayden Primeau on the bench.

He looks like he still belongs in high school

BU has played some good competition lately (Cornell, Harvard) & showing
by their last game, are coming together as a team finally (I think).

Hope the Huskies are down a bit from the post Belpot highs & will need every bit of sound goaltending to come out with some points Saturday.

Hoping for a good, competitive gm.
