What happened to Madden? I was at the game last night and he was out on the ice for the whole game.

Broken finger after blocking a slap shot at the end of Friday's game. He immediately grabbed his left wrist/hand, but did finish the period including winning a big late faceoff.

Huge win. huge huge huge. Still with 2 games in hand on most of the conference. The BC series is massive of course, and without Madden it's an even bigger challenge. Can't understate how big this sweep was, though

5 more wins pretty much gets us into the NCAAs. 3-3-0 plus a playoff series win would do it. Probably 2-3-1 and a playoff series win would do it.

This injury situation is brutal, but the players really showed some heart this past week.

isn't it only top 8 teams make hea playoffs? 2-3-1 may leave a team 9th and you won't see a playoff series (or any of the teams bunched up now). hard to guess who, but some team will stumble now and be left out. funny to think bu's games vs UConn are brutally important right now, cause if the boys lose these it is not like the last 3 vs your boys and bc will be any easier. have to finish up over .500 for a shot at top 8

Wow 4 to 6 is pretty much done for the season and NCAAs isn't it ? That seems like a long time..in the NHL at playoff time you might be wrapped and expected to play. Madden will be missed. I assume he needed a surgical repair

Getting that third win is going to be a struggle what with a deep BC and a vengeful BU on the horizon. And let's not look past UVM where Stefanos Lekkas is known to put on a magic show every so often. As for the injuries, there's some hope of getting Filipe back but Walsh, Struble, and Madden look done for the year. So as they say, "Next men up."

Those two points NU lost to UConn in OT now loom brutally large. As matters stand now, NU is finds itself three points out of first place and two points from oblivion. And currently 9th in the PWR.

2-3-1 should be fine. That would be 26 points, there's no realistic way UNH is getting above 25 and I'd project them below that if you made me pick a number. As long as they sweep Vermont they'll have a chance, if they can somehow split both Boston series' on top of it they'll be in a good spot.

We have three more series in the regular season so that's 3 weeks. Another week after is the HEA first round. Then another is HEA at TD Garden. And then one more in NCAA Tournament.

So if he's out 4 weeks we have him for the HEA playoffs. 6 weeks and he'd still be ready for NCAA if we make it.

Unfortunate but not season-ending.

Hey, Shea Weber's injury was speculated as career ending earlier this month and he'll be back in less than two weeks. Gotta hope!

BTW, just because the guy is on the shelf doesn't mean people who have been voting for him on hobeybaker.com should stop. He's apparently one of the top vote-getters so far and although the fan vote doesn't decide who gets the Hobey, it does have a bearing on the who makes the Top Ten, from which the finalists are chosen. So keep voting...early and often.

Madden's rights traded to the Kings. Not sure if that makes an impact on him leaving early or not. He seems too small still to make the leap this off season.

Some recent LA college draft picks and how long they stayed in school:

Cole Hults- 3 (Still at Penn State)
Mikey Anderson- 2
Michael Eyssimont- 3
Matt Roy- 3
Jonny Brodzinski- 3
Hudson Fasching- 3 (doesn't really count because his rights were traded a year later)

Obviously a case-by-case basis, but seems like they like their guys to stay 3 years. Of course, now they are one of the worst teams in the league and may be more apt to try and speed up the development of their young guys.

Not sure how to share tweets here using an app on phone but Andrew Mahoney from the globe is reporting that Tyler Maddens injury is only 2-3 weeks so he should be back for the BU series or HE qtrs.

Yeah, the Columbus Garage is the best bet. Just show the attendant your game ticket and tell them you are going to the game. You shouldn't have any issues.

If you emerge on the Columbus Ave. side, turn left (toward Mass. Ave.) Make a left at Camden St. Cross over the MBTA tracks. You can enter through the back end of the Arena if you can show tickets. If you come out on the campus side of the lot, turn right.

Of course, once inside, you will be expected to remain silent unless BC should actually score. In that case, you are permitted to clap politely. No shouting!
