Northeastern Huskies 2018-19: New Breed, Old Snarl

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2018-19: New Breed, Old Snarl

much as the remaining gms need to be affected by some of the upperclassmen, ..the gms need also be impacted by our younger core more than ever before. be it a freshman or sopohmore that steps up in a particular gm.. madden, primeau notwithstanding, would love to hear other names in the mix. disciplined hockey along with hard work (lerario & NU, escaped a last min penalty; waning minutes last game); no silly penalties down the stretch run, just hard fought, smart hockey. play to win; versus playing 'not to lose'.
best to the Huskies, go NU :)

Your team runs through Davie. So all of HE will attack him. Hot head. Welcome to HE Davies.

"welcome to Hockey east" to the junior, the all american, the assistant captain. Ok. That doesn't even make any sense. No one "attacks" him, he got hurt on a shot. He's hardly a hot head, he's not even a top five hot head on his team.

ha, ha. good point.
I like Black1 (entertainment value & i like his enthusiasm for Maine) but even he's going to have to run a few miles outside, to cool this burn. :)

getting back to Davies, (getter better soon).. of course he is huge for us back there. without him, our chances against any team diminish a whole lot. beanpot game, or not.

Good Guys Win! BC pressed but CP stood tall! Pot back to Huntington Ave after a 2 week hiatus! NICE!

Back. To. Back.

Got it done. Didn't break. Primeau a stone wall. Secondary scoring. Disciplined play. Ahh.

not to mention, had some fun..!
attendance listed at 15,000+ for tonight's gm. great coll hockey atmosphere. not bad given all the modern trappings & travails.
fwiw, could care less if we play the late/ early gm nxt yr. would actually prefer the early gm.. get in, play the gm, get out at decent time even if there is slight play delay or weather issues etc. the other two can knock themselves out.. wee hours, multiple overtimes & all. :)

Weird to see NU not only win Beanpot, but be favored and take care of business against BC and BU. JM has taken this program to a different level...winning the Beanpot and being a bubble NCAA team in a "down" year is impressive.

BC has been down now for a couple of seasons. AIC has a better PWR this season...when was the last time we could say that?

BC has both been down now for a couple of seasons. ....
Not sure what you meant by this? Did you mean 'both BC and BU' ?

If so, just want to point out that both teams won over 20 games at least the last 5 years; wouldn't call that 'beat down'.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2018-19: New Breed, Old Snarl

Congrats to you guys. Loved seeing you win in, esp twice in a row. BU's senior class graduating without winning the 'JP Invitational' :D

ALL IS FORGIVEN!!! (At least for now ). Is it too soon to be tthinking about a three-peat?

Maybe he'll get that NCAA tourney win now ;)

BC has not made the NCAA tournament since 2015-2016. They have one nonconference win since November 2016. They are down right now and unless they win the postseason tournament, they will be sitting home in March. So yes, they are down.

Agree, when I was in school Coach Flaman used to have to go up and grab the farm boys from Saskatoon to play at NU to compete many like Rod Isbistor a scoring machine, he had likely never heard of BU, BC or NU for that matter...nor did he care. Fern had no choice in recruiting as he had to deal with the fact that most Mass and New England Prep School kids from places like Avon Old Farms, Kent and locally like Thayer and Catholic Memorial were pipe lined to Harvard, BU, NU and the NESCAC. NU was out in the cold. It was amazing that he could get them to compete with the occasional overlooked public school standouts. Today the landscape of hockey has changed and Jim understands this, he can recruit the sons of blue chip NHL'rs just the same as Jerry and Jack did for 2 decades

So while the days of BU and BC dominance on a national level may not be over but they won't be as consistent in the level playing field. Look at Quinnipiac, Penn State and Arizona State quick rise to successful programs. The days of BU, BC in the Final Four year in and year old are history.
