Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

The game winner was Davies yeah. Filipe was originally credited with the first goal, but I guess it's been determined that it hit a UVM stick, because the goal is now Shea on the point shot.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

Tough game. UVM is not easy to play against. Some big saves, big defensive plays. UVM kept Gaudette and Filipe quiet, though both played hard all night. Stevens was huge. Sikura was moving all night. I'm not sorry to see UVM go away right now. The style they play is fan un-friendly.

Character building win. I thought the first was one of our best periods of the year, still not sure how we didn't score. 2nd was very bleh, as was the beginning of the 3rd. I thought the no goal was going to be the back-breaker in a "just not our night" kinda way but they kept fighting. Much needed after some poor 3rd periods in tight games. Davies was the best player on the ice IMO. Not a lot of defenseman can dominate a game in HE, he is special. Also, huuuuuuge save from Cayden on the breakaway a minute or so before the tying goal. Great athleticism and quickness post to post.

The level to which this is being taken is out of control...Hopefully it gets handled swiftly and they understand the absurdity of the situation.

The same can be said for summarily firing a coach for answering text messages. But this is Peter Roby's Athletic Dept. so don't count on anybody understanding the absurdity of anything. Look, I get it that some of those chants are off the rails and don't put the school in a particularly classy light. But since this has been going on for years, I'm intrigued as to what suddenly made it a Title IX violation only a week after the Head Coach saluted the Doghouse as the first, second, and third stars of the bu game. And it seems to me that there might be better ways of toning down the language than unleashing Husky PD on a bunch of kids who actually give a **** about the school and its hockey program.

It suddenly became a title 9 issue because last week a student reported the chant sheet that was distributed to the title 9 office. That’s right, one student got offended and caused all this backlash. The athletic department then got salty that the DogHouse didn’t act like good little lap dogs and stand to be censored based on an unapplicable policy, so the athletic department immediately had the students removed in what one might consider a dick measuring contest.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

Frustrating game last night. NU was the better team, dominated much of the first and third (second period it looked like both teams were asleep), but a win is a win, and a tough one at that. Saw a stat tweeted that it was the first 2-1 win for the Huskies since late 2015? Unreal if that is true. Good to see them fight back against a grinding, physical team and win a close scoring game. Davies is a treasure, and Primeau is legit. Primeau kept the team in the game with some of his saves in the 2nd and 3rd while the offense sputtered.

Tonight should be an excellent game.

Personally, when the Doghouse chants "Let's go Huskies" I think it's offensive to skinny people...

To be offended by that chant, means you've watched porn. If you're watching porn, you have no right to be offended by that chant.

Is it crude? Yes, but so was the "Guess who Katy did?" sign against UNH. If it wasn't for the DogHouse pushing limits, there would be no fans at NU games.

In this day and age of political correctness run amok, the entire world seemingly must be brought to a screeching halt if even one person claims he/she is offended by just about anything. If what I've been hearing about what happened earlier tonight is anywhere near accurate, it will take years to recover any semblance of a student fanbase. The players and coaches who leave their blood, sweat, and tears on the ice/court deserve better.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

That wasn't pretty. BC's defense and Joe Woll we're impressive. Huskies played their best hockey of the weekend without the Dog House...maybe a longer ban is in order?

missed tonight's gm.. listening in & out sounded like a good, close 0-1 gm until the mid 3rd at least.. & then viola.. what happened!??.. anyway, congrats to the Eagles.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

We lost fair and square. Couple goals were softies but BC had the defensive answer for us. I think some of our players are trying to do too much on their own. Love Pickings game. If we scored early it would have been a different game but they shut us down. I think Woll is the best in the conference. On to the next game.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

Speaking to my BC friend, he said that was the best game BC had all year. And they certainly played that way. Suffocating defense and a stellar performance from Woll. NU had *one* powerplay, that's it. Too much of the skill players trying to do it all themselves.

Primeau looked great. This game is 7-1 without him. 2 or 3 of those goals are flukes (Goals 3 and 4 definitely are). Still confident with him in net from here on out

Agreed

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

Wow, what a different game from what I envisioned. BC was just relentless, almost never leaving a Huskie room to do anything and only taking one penalty while doing it. Three of the BC goals were greasy goals resulting from hard work and tenacity. Their forwards can all skate and work hard, Their D and Goalie are a very strong group. I'm not going to bash NU either. The effort was there. The Huskies weren't flat. BC just put on a clinic.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

Also agree with the above assessments but it's not just BC that's been coming up with suffocating defense. UML and UVM have combined with BC to limit NU to an average of only 1.7 GF over the last three games. Offense is supposed to be the strength of this team but passing in the attacking zone seems to have suddenly lost its sharpness which, in turn, has led to trouble finishing around the net. That being said--and taking nothing away from BC--puck luck just wasn't there last night.

as has also been noted.. some forwards trying to do too much all by themselves. make a simple play on odd man, 2x1 type rushes .. move the puck to the open guy, he has a wide open net to shoot at. they'll look at the video, hopefully learn and improve. good job by the Eagles moving the puck. from what i caught.. that was the difference.
