Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

that is great to hear on all of them. Believe me, we will need them vs UVM. Hopefully get things going Fri & into Sat on a positive note. GO NU

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

Through trusted sources I hear Ruck, Sikura and Cockerill will be back this weekend. Nice to get all 3 back for a big weekend with 4 points up for grabs, 2 of which will be against a hot BC team riding a 5 game win streak. It helps we will have them on Saturday after they travel to UNH to play on Friday. Hopefully the boys are ready and don't look past Vermont and take back some momentum Friday night. I am interested to see who gets the start, but feel like Jim will give each RR and CP a start this weekend unless someone really shines Friday night.

I wonder if BC is thinking that they are fortunate that NU has to play UVM on Friday night. Forget their record, I can't remember the last easy game we had against them. If we are rested for BC, it might mean that we blew a tire vs. the Cats. If this Huskie team is truly different from those of the past, they will find a way to put UVM away early. If they do, the 4th line can get regular shifts and lessen the ice time of the other lines.

I also expect/hope Sikura back. Ruck has to be in tip-top shape given the demands of his position. I really don't have an idea of what kept Cockerill out for the past three games. and for some reason, I felt reluctant to probe. I thought Carrabino filled in ably for him. The only things missing were #14's offense (and his special brand? of defense).

Cecere is my early candidate for Unsung Hero. He seems to have thrived since he transferred in, but I don't think his efforts and accomplishments have been recognized - yet.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

Cecere's always been solid since his first game here, but it was on the third pairing which is always kind of limiting as far as seeing what someone has. But the fact that, unless he's one of the very odd few defensemen who actually prefers to play on his backhand, he's now doing it in the top four while playing on the right side every single shift is nothing short of amazing to me. We've had a long list of "Meh" transfers which probably includes every single one dating back to Saponari (Maybe Snydeman?) but he turned out to be a fantastic pickup.

..meanwhile Kevin Roy with the Anaheim Ducks tonight with his first NHL goal against guess who.. the Boston Bruins. Congrats to him.

Oh & go Bruins & Go NU! :)

thx. he does have a thing for those quick 'swat' type goals.. i remember a certain swat goal in the Beanpot against BU.. :)... anyway, good for him. G'luck in the show kid!

That's exactly what I thought of when I saw this highlight.

Awesome for him!

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

must be Northeastern night @ Anaheim (at the Bruins expense!) as Manson gets his first of this season as well.

Well the NU alumni team outscored the Bruins last night, not sure if that says more about them or the Bruins. Congrats to KRoy on the first of many!

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

Some line shakeups 21/28/19, 15/8/9, 17/27/25, 13/7/23 with CP in between the pipes. I like this shake up as it spreads out some scoring and hopefully can get 17 going along with giving 27 some more ice time. 25 has moved the puck well the last few games finding the open man in quality scoring areas, but not many goals to show for it. I think 17 could put a lot of those passes away. Interesting to see how things pan out.

I'm fine with anything that helps get 17 untracked. I think he's a heckuva player but one who seems to have developed a bad case of sophomore slump.
