Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

Possibly the worst game the team has played so far this season. Can't hit the net, too many drop passes/errant passes.
The only ones who may feel worse tonight are UML and it’s latest wunderkeeper Mr Hernberg. They outshot Bentley 27-13. They held Them to just 2 shots in p1 zero in p3. Unfortunately, 3 of the 13 found the net and they lost 3-2 in OT. AT HOME! Their fans must have handfuls of hair!

It sounded like Huska stole the game in the second and third periods. I say it “sounded” , because my feed was so broken that i was unable to see any of the five goals and found Greg Madden’s radio call to be easier on my ears and far more rational.
Tough on Lowell, but it doesn’t do a thing for the sting :>}

Huska played a strong game but I'd stop short of saying that he stole the show (he was the announced third star). The offense has just seemed discombobulated ever since the bu beatdowns. Opponents have been clogging the middle and NU doesn't seem to have an answer for it. Passing hasn't been as precise as it was earlier in the year, which means pucks aren't getting to open men or are just being turned over. When a play does go right, pucks seem to take crazy bounces or goaltenders come up big. Just have to play your way out of it.

It's still only one-third of the way through but the pairwise is already looking scary.

.. good take.
also, why is it that we are having these slow first period starts..? Madigan for the 2nd or 3rd time in the last (as many) gms has begun by "first period they really took it to us.." "poor start.." "we were on our heels in the 1st.."

so I know they are trying to come back in these gms in the 2nd & 3rd periods.. but why the poor starts?
why arent they game ready to begin with?
4 pts or bust this wknd.

Yep, that's the grim reality and I don't think anyone in the D1 hockey world (certainly nobody on this thread) thought we'd even have to say it. Especially this early in the season. Offense is supposed to be NU's strong point but that offense is suddenly averaging only 1.5 goals over the last four games. Hard to make sense of it.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

Friday night would be a good time to load up the top two lines right from the get go and get something buzzing in the first period.

slow starts or not.. season wise.. would rather we be a 2nd half of the season team than 1st half. hopefully can put it together & start something here again.

then they get a break with the holidays & go from there.
Let's go NU

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

Major lineup shakeup for Merrimack to try and spur the offense. Fallon made a good point that this could force the team to try and do more as a unit, rather than waiting on 8/9 to do things.

Stevens-Gaudette-Jozefek
Sikura-Solow-Filipe
Griffin-Picking-Hampton
Schultz-Selanne-Schule

Carrabino in for Owens.

Ruck listed ahead of Primeau so I'm scared until I see otherwise

For the first time in a long time, I'm thinking "What the **** Jimmy"

maybe he is trying to give ruck chance to shake off the tues outing. if he makes good.. nothing wrong with that. if he looks shaky early/ things dont go well, go with primeau. i think ruck @ home & primeau on the road.. (face of it).. not all bad.

GO NU

as good as griffin's tap in G was.. it was due the ridiculous spin & shoot move by john picking.. having a good gm.. way to go team.
