Northeastern Huskies 2016 Offseason Thread: Building Momentum

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2016 Offseason Thread: Building Momentum

McMurtry has signed with the Texas Stars, AHL of Dallas.

McMurtry had a point in the first game of his ATO with Texas tonight.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2016 Offseason Thread: Building Momentum

If we can get another freshman class like we had this year we will be good. I thought Gaudette was a stud. I think we would all like a team that can finish top 4 regular season in hockey east. I don't think this years finish was a flash in the pan. Having depth this year was huge and we learned it's not just about having 1 or 2 superstars.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2016 Offseason Thread: Building Momentum

Has Roy signed with the Ducks or is he going the Vesey route?

He hasn't yet, but that doesn't mean he's going the Vesey route. Perhaps he's just staying in school another month to get his degree, and then signing with Anaheim. Imagine, a student-athlete who is actually a student first.

Then again, I don't think Anaheim has any room for him up on the big club, so they may not be beating down his door. If he doesn't sign with them after his last final, then he could test the free agent market in August. However, that is a risk given his performance this season. His stock took a big hit this past year, so much so that nobody outside of this board is even discussing the fact that he hasn't signed yet.

His stock was way down when he got hurt but he played well down the stretch with subpar linemates. At his best I thought he was a top scorer in the AHL/mediocre 3rd line wing in the NHL and that hasn't changed for me.

It's easy to speculate on what he might have done had he been on the first line or if he had McMurtry as his center, but JM simply couldn't break up the first two lines. Those lines were working very well and Kevin's presence on the third line made it more productive. His acceptance of the role was a good "team" move. I can't complain about how things worked out.

Sometimes, putting two gunners on the same time doesn't produce a linear improvement. When Roy played with Szmatula as his center, the results were meh at best.

Agree 100%. JM couldn't break those two lines up and it was certainly best for the team. I was just saying Roy probably would have put up more points playing with McMurtry, and helped his individual stock.

OHHHHHH!!! What did I tell y'all???? PICKED ND to WIN IT ALL and picked them against my beloved NU! GET OFF ME!! WHAT I TELL Y'ALL!! GO SUCK A MANGODICK!!!

Good for you. You are very smart. Perhaps you can bet next term's tuition on the game tomorrow, unless your grade school is public and has no tuition. Now if you are really smart, I mean really smart, you will recognize that NU's season is over and you will disappear for a long, long time!

Wrap up of some other HEA news-

PC goalie Nick Ellis signed with Edmonton
old news- UNH's Poturalski and Maine's Renouf signed with Carolina and Detroit, respectively
BC's Thatcher Demko is expected to sign with Vancouver. I'd also expect McCoshen and Tuch to sign pro, Santini/Gilmour closer to 50/50. I expect RFitz to come back and likely be captain next year.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2016 Offseason Thread: Building Momentum

KRoy officially signs a 2 year ELC with the Ducks

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2016 Offseason Thread: Building Momentum

It appears NU recruit Matt Koopman is now heading to Providence. His brother Kyle will also play for the Friars.

huh, I saw his brother had committed, did not realize that Matt also flipped. Shame, when he committed some good things were said about him, seemed to have a bright future. Good luck to both at PC. Thanks for the tip, bob
