Bye, Mookie.
..don't worry.. if his team goes 0-3 to finish the season.. (or 1-4).. he'll be here soon enough to talk something up re Husky hockey or NU this or that..
mookie can't help himself.. we kinda used to it, but his rants never get old..![]()
Some talk about ZAR leaving, any chance Benning or Nolan leave? Those seem like the 3 most likely candidates.
ZAR is probably the likeliest option. If he does not leave I will actually be surprised, pleasantly surprised. Nolan I don't think there is any chance. He will likely be drafted, and I cannot see a team looking to sign him and plug him in immediately especially after the growth he had under JM and Co. Also the John/Nolan dynamic factor. Benning is the wild card. I think his uncle leaving will be a plus for us- the organization has no ties to him anymore, and has other better prospects to sign ahead of him. I think John will be captain next year and Benning will be alternate captain.
N.Stevens is to old to get drafted. Benning I would be absolutely shocked if he left. Bruins took him in the 6th round, doubt they are even interested in him, or remember that they drafted him. ZAR is the flight risk. he should stay over playing in AHL next year, but we have seen far worse players leave early.

N. Stevens is in his last year of eligibility for the draft. I expect him to go in the 4th or 5th round.
Agree with you on Benning and ZAR. Benning does not have NHL foot speed.
ZAR is most prototypical NHL player on the roster and, unlike Roy last year and other drafted guys, has 30 teams to choose from instead of just one. He is the biggest flight risk, though I think he likes playing at NU and may get better exposure to those 30 teams by staying.
Nolan is really young yes. Griffin is too, he's going to be eligible for each of the next two drafts. Nolan would seem to have the puck skills and frame to be a decent pick, but he also went undrafted last year, so we'll see.
More importantly, the guys didn't miss him in the locker room or on the ice. We scored more without him than with him. I expect that if has any success, he'll play one year at most for the goophers . He'll pick up his degree (if he has any smarts at all) and offer himself up to the pros before he ages out of the game entirely. How do you think Mike Szmatula is doing, watched the team he was to good for win HE. 24 year old Junior next year.
