Re: Northeastern Huskies 2015-2016 Part Duex: Enjoy the Ride at the Gahden Party!
There are plenty of scenarios in which we win on Friday and still don't make the NCAAs
And plenty of scenarios in which they still make the tournament even with a loss on Friday. I've worked out SEVERAL thus far. There are even some scenarios that allow NU to advance after losing with THREE automatic qualifiers behind them in the pairwise (the AHA, Big 10 and WCHA winners).
AHA - No outcome will impact NU's chances.
ECAC - As long as the tournament winner is either of Harvard of Quinnipiac, no other outcomes impact NU's chances.
If either Dartmouth or St. Lawrence are the winners, NU needs help from Michigan and the NCHC (WCHA will not matter). They will need Michigan to win the Big10 and Minnesota-Duluth to lose-out.
Big 10 - A non-Michigan championship will mean that Harvard or Quinnipiac will need to win the ECAC, Minnesota-Duluth will need to lose out, and Michigan Tech needs to lose out.
Hockey East - No outcome will impact NU's chances.
NCHC - No Denver, St. Cloud State or North Dakota wins will impact NU. Minnesota-Duluth is the big factor here. If Minnesota Duluth loses out, NU can afford to see upsets in BOTH the Big 10 AND the WCHA (in the event that Michigan Tech also loses to Ferris).
WCHA - If Michigan Tech wins, it's a good outcome. We'll just need Minnesota-Duluth to lose out (Big 10 outcome won't matter, and ECAC won't matter as long as Quinnipiac or Harvard wins). If Michigan Tech doesn't win, it would be best if they lose in the first round to Ferris.
Long story short, assuming NU loses:
AHA: Who cares.
Hockey East: Who cares.
ECAC: Go Harvard and Quinnipiac!
Big 10: Go Michigan!
WCHA: Go Michigan Tech!
NCHC: BOO Minnesota-Duluth.
