Northeastern Huskies 2015-2016 Part Duex: Enjoy the Ride at the Gahden Party!

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2015-2016 Part Duex: Enjoy the Ride at the Gahden Party!

A little late (I was away for the weekend), but congrats Huskies. Great job!

I bought tickets for next weekend two weeks ago for my bachelor party. Couldn't have lined it up better.

IIRC, the games will be on NBCSN and NESN, so beers and shots at home will work quite nicely.

Whatever happened to #FireMadigan?

Obviously JM deserves a lot of praise for the team turning this season around and going on a historic run. It's not just the W's and L's, but it passes the eye test too. The team defense is light years better, there is physicality in our game and each line is utilized and each has a defined purpose. Hopefully, he (and we) have turned a corner.

With all that being said, the coaching match-ups are an interest sub-plot to this weekend. York, Bazin and Leaman have all won multiple big games and are IMO the league's 3 best coaches. As much as it will be a tough test for the team, it is also a test for Madigan.

NU's PWR is now #14. I think if they beat BC, but then lose to Prov or UML-- they are in the NCAAs.

There are plenty of scenarios in which we win on Friday and still don't make the NCAAs

I think NBC has the choice. Why the FRICK would BC choose the 5pm game? IDIOT. BC vs NU gets better ratings than UML vs PROV

why would BC choose the game with less money? Because any money made is split 12 ways and probably goes mostly back into league operations.

Further, they get off the ice at least 3 hours sooner than their opponent should they win. 3 hours more rest and recovery.

For your sake I hope for a 4OT epic. Lowell/PC gets off the ice at 7:45 and NU/BC gets off at 2AM.

And plenty of scenarios in which they still make the tournament even with a loss on Friday. I've worked out SEVERAL thus far. There are even some scenarios that allow NU to advance after losing with THREE automatic qualifiers behind them in the pairwise (the AHA, Big 10 and WCHA winners).

AHA - No outcome will impact NU's chances.

ECAC - As long as the tournament winner is either of Harvard of Quinnipiac, no other outcomes impact NU's chances.
If either Dartmouth or St. Lawrence are the winners, NU needs help from Michigan and the NCHC (WCHA will not matter). They will need Michigan to win the Big10 and Minnesota-Duluth to lose-out.

Big 10 - A non-Michigan championship will mean that Harvard or Quinnipiac will need to win the ECAC, Minnesota-Duluth will need to lose out, and Michigan Tech needs to lose out.

Hockey East - No outcome will impact NU's chances.

NCHC - No Denver, St. Cloud State or North Dakota wins will impact NU. Minnesota-Duluth is the big factor here. If Minnesota Duluth loses out, NU can afford to see upsets in BOTH the Big 10 AND the WCHA (in the event that Michigan Tech also loses to Ferris).

WCHA - If Michigan Tech wins, it's a good outcome. We'll just need Minnesota-Duluth to lose out (Big 10 outcome won't matter, and ECAC won't matter as long as Quinnipiac or Harvard wins). If Michigan Tech doesn't win, it would be best if they lose in the first round to Ferris.

Long story short, assuming NU loses:

AHA: Who cares.
Hockey East: Who cares.
ECAC: Go Harvard and Quinnipiac!
Big 10: Go Michigan!
WCHA: Go Michigan Tech!
NCHC: BOO Minnesota-Duluth.

Late to the 'poll' party.. but better late than never.. @ #14.. mirroring the pwr last I checked at 14 as well..
hoping we can do same for the NCAA bid.. late to the party.. but better late than never.
